Job Overview
TE Connectivity's Manufacturing and Process Development Engineering Teams significantly impact LEANPD driven new product development projects, driving for excellence in existing manufacturing technologies and methods and striving to implement new manufacturing technologies to provide improved process and tolerance control. They act as the binding element between product development and manufacturing engineering, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of this critical interface. They support Product Development in the optimization of designs and piece parts for manufacturability by realizing sample tooling/products/prototypes. They also design, develop, and qualify tooling and processes to meet TE quality and production standards, document all processes and tooling in applicable TE systems, support supply chain to verify supplier compliance and capability, initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, cost and cycle time and adhere to all appropriate specifications, regulatory requirements and customer requirements.

Responsibilities:
Ensure applicable process & tool specifications, adhering to manufacturing release procedures according to Precision Power Solutions LEAN PD process and procedures
Provide necessary support to Product and Industrial engineering to provide best fit DFM solutions to meet product requirements and optimized cost
Provide necessary support to the Sourcing team to select best fit Vendor for Process/Tool/Prototype development, tool build and possible non-plant production based on make vs. buy analysis
Provide necessary support to the Product and Project manager to select best fit manufacturing location for the developed process
Identify the best way to manufacture the product / product components using conventional or new to TE processes
Work closely with the Industrial Global Sourcing Team for tooling/process needs to be designed/manufactured with the best fit supplier selection to build/run or build/transfer to TE Precision Power Solutions operations
Providing technical input for commercial negotiations as required.
Provide experience and supplier based DFM feedback to product development and sustaining engineering teams
Initiate Process FMEA’s to capture and control all risks for the assembly processes
Provide process and capital investment details for initial cost simulations and work closely together with Industrial Engineering to establish optimized product assembly cost options
Act as a “Tooling Manager” able to manage assembly tooling builds through the LEANPD process and phase gates interfacing with different cultures and Project Managers
Initiate the process / tool release requirements and drive the release process sharing measurement results and samples with Product & Quality Engineering
Drive tool conditioning / process optimizations as required.
Capture & share lessons learned and store release documents in the TE project management system
Ensure tooling design documentation is up to date and stored in the TE PDMLink system when the process is released to production at a supplier or transferred to Operations
When specific knowledge is needed to run the process ensure that the receiving operations team is aware upfront with this clearly documented
Collaborate regionally and globally with Precision Power Solutions, Industrial, and Corporate resources to share best practices and share technology radar/roadmap details for Precision Power Solutions assembly needs
Work with Global Center of Excellences and Manufacturing teams to ensure lessons learned are deployed across the BU for successful ready-to-deploy initiatives
Ensure process documentation meets all TE Quality and Engineering system requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology field and/or 5 years experience in Assembly Tooling Design
3D CAD – Creo and/or Solidworks skills
Proven and effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Self-directed and highly motivated
Spanish and English written and verbal communication skills
Must be willing and able to travel both domestically and globally as required and be willing to participate in teleconference meetings to accommodate other time zones
Working knowledge of manual, semi-automatic and automatic assembly processes
Must be willing to travel as required (15% max) to support NPI launch timelines as well as accommodate other time zones for global collaboration
