Description: Manages the development and evaluation of calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and derived units of physical or chemical measure. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs the development of calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements. This position will be located at a facility that requires special access and requires the selected candidate to be a US Citizen. Must be able to travel at least 30% of the time when necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, with 5 years of professional experience; or 3 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.
Experience executing and managing the day-to-day calibration functions for a metrology laboratory.
Maintains integrity and control of all parts of the Quality Management System, to assure ongoing conformance to Standards.
Experience in managing personnel
Perform measurement uncertainty analysis
Ability to communicate sound metrology principles and knowledge to other metrology employees and leadership.
Formal training and experience in Metrology to include: PMEL certification and/or ASQ metrology certification, dimensional, mechanical, and electrical calibrations.
Supervisory and/or managerial experience in operating and understanding a metrology operation.
Familiarity with Quality Systems AS9100 and ISO9001.
Must possess full spectrum leadership imperatives and competencies in order to deliver results, shape the future, build relationships, energize the team, and model personal excellence, integrity, and accountability.
Candidate should possess excellent communication (written, verbal, and listening) skills, Superior Customer Skills and Strong Interpersonal Skills with the ability to work within all levels of the organization.
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Desired Skills:
Apply metrology standards and principles to perform calibrations on Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) in the electrical (DC & LO), RF, physical, mechanical, environmental, and/or chemical disciplines to ensure precision measurement accuracy, compliance to AS9100D, and company procedures.
Experience using various automation platforms
(Met/Cal, Lab-View, Compass, IndySoft)
Develop, program, create, validate, and maintain calibration procedures used to perform calibrations.
Be able to cross-training technicians into additional metrology disciplines.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient using computers and major components of the MS Office suite, including but not limited to, Excel, Power Point and Word.
DoD PMEL, or TMDE training a plus
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed.
