About the Team
The role will be part of the "Building Blocks Team" at Nutanix, which focuses on developing foundational software components for database management and autonomous databases. This team is dedicated to creating scalable frameworks that enhance the efficiency of workflow management systems. Located in one of Nutanix's office hubs, the team embraces a culture centered around collaboration, technical excellence, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The mission of the team is to innovate and improve database management solutions, ensuring that they meet evolving customer needs and contribute to the overall success of Nutanix’s products.
You will report to the Sr. Manager, Engineering, who fosters a supportive and transparent leadership style, emphasizing open communication and collaboration within the team. The work setup is flexible, with a hybrid model allowing for a combination of remote and on-site work. The new hire is expected to be in the office for an average of 3 days a week, promoting team cohesion while also accommodating for remote work flexibility.
Your Role
Architect and design core software components for the NDB product, focusing on workflow management orchestration, scalability and performance.
Technically lead and mentor a small pod of 2-3 junior engineers.
Oversee the entire software development life cycle for assigned features, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
Collaborate with product management and UX teams to define functionality and align on customer use cases.
Implement features that enhance the workflow engine's capability to support various database types including SQL, noSQL in-memory databases.
Write efficient code and conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
Establish and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders regarding project progress and challenges.
What You Will Bring
7+ years of software engineering experience.
Strong expertise in architecting and designing core software components.
Proficiency in Java / Go programming languages.
Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers.
Deep understanding of workflow engines and orchestration frameworks like Temporal or Apache Airflow.
The ability to write efficient, thread-safe, and highly performant code.
Experience of scaling products in a high-performance startup environment (Series A-D).
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $136,800 and USD $273,600 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
