MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT MANAGER
Reports to: Director of Program, Programming & Impact
Compensation: $62,500 - $68,000
Location: DoSomething.org is headquartered in New York City with a distributed workforce across the country. For consideration of this role, candidates must be based in the New York City Metro area, with the ability to join our team in office 3x days a week (TU, W, TH).
WHO WE ARE
DoSomething is a thirty year old nonprofit fueling young people to change the world. These young activists have made a real difference from donating over 1 million jeans to homeless youth; to over 4,600 young people powering the petition that compelled Apple to create emojis representing people of color; and providing 585,965 menstrual products to achieve gender equity! On top of all that, DoSomething has registered 365,000 young people to vote and claim our democracy since 2018, with our voter turnout rate, above the national average, at 62 percent.

THE POSITION
DoSomething.org seeks a collaborative, engaging, and innovative Membership Engagement Manager to cultivate and manage DoSomething's Membership and Collective.
Reporting to the Director of Program on the Programming & Impact Team, the Membership Engagement Manager Manager contributes to DoSomething's mission and vision by devising the strategies and tactics to meaningfully engage young people. They will develop a deep understanding of what brings value to members, and will inform the organization's strategy and implementation of programming that builds relationships, equips and educates members to be active citizens for change. This role is an enthusiastic, community-focused and self-motivated professional operating from the mindset that all young people are potential members.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Member cultivation + programming (20 hours/wk)
Using your relationship-building skills to find and nurture interested young people into DS members, leveraging DS' unique value proposition, and drawing on industry trends and best practices.Leveraging membership development techniques to reach volunteer and youth member goals.Making frequent, unsolicited contacts, through phone, email, and in-person, as well as follow up with warm leads.Serve as onsite spokesperson of membership for special membership-related events to interact and better understand membership base.Collaborate cross-functionally to design and build a diverse Collective that celebrates the spectrum of intersectional identities and fosters a sense of belonging and community through their involvement with DoSomething. Co-develop a member advisory council and eventually include cultivation of an alumni program.
Member analysis and impact (15 hours/wk)
Support Dr. of Analysis & Impact to propose new research to understand our members and new strategies that help drive growth, diversity + engagement. Support membership analytics (e.g., data compilation/analysis/ quality assurance, etc.)Review + approve report backsDevelop monthly member reports and provide cross-functional recommendations to improve program offerings and product capabilities for internal efficienciesField member inquiries via Zendesk (and coordinating with Communications Associate for inquiries via email and SMS)Track status of issues and work with teams as needed to provide a resolution.
Program Management (5 hrs/wk)
Provide support for DoSomething programs and activities
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
You have a passion for relationship-building, youth development and engagment, and motivating others to act. Experience with online community building. WHO YOU ARE
You have a passion for and experience working with young people in a youth development, volunteer management, or nonprofit capacity. You can interpret the core behaviors, motivators, and needs of young people today.You can speak to the current and historical barriers to civic participation, especially among BIPOC youth and other historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.You have strong communication skills and the abilityto adapt messaging, style, and tone to accommodate a diverse range of audiences internally and externally and persuade others to gain their supportA team player with highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborateSolutions-oriented and able to navigate complex or constrained situations to find solutions, intuit where to compromise and where to hold firm, and consistently deliver on required business resultsAn analytically minded thinker; able to synthesize complex information, connect ideas and transform data into insights that are actionable, inform strategic and tactical business decisions, and are presented in a digestible, easy-to-understand mannerYou believe in young people and are curious about the needs and wants of young people across the spectrum of identity and difference. JazzHR maintains secure job board pages. Job boards will default to HTTPS. Additionally, if we were to terminate our contract with JazzHR our candidate data is deleted from JazzHR's systems in accordance with JazzHR's Terms of Service.
