The Laboratory Supervisor will oversee 3 different offsite laboratories for a major hospital system in Columbus. These sites include 2 in Dublin and 1 in Mansfield.
You will be expected to visit each site at least once a week, with your home base being in Dublin. Mileage to Mansfield can be expensed.
Responsibilities
Supervise Medical Technologists, Medical Lab Technicians, and Phlebotomy employees.
Hold meetings for staff and delegate.
Give feedback to employees.
Perform 90 day and annual reviews for laboratory employees.
Perform corrective actions for employees when necessary.
Train new employees.
Follow up on any issues with samples that come up.
Follow up on patient and parent complaints.
Step in and perform phlebotomy on patients when needed.
May have to answer calls at all hours in order to address any emergency issues that come up.
Will assist with leading CAP and Joint-Commission inspections.
Depending on location, testing in the laboratory may typically Include:
Perform blood collections, perform waived and non-waived testing (routine chemistries, automated CBC/Diffs, erythrocyte sedimentation rates, urine strip, RSV, Flu, COVID , Strep, pregnancy screens; process samples for testing at main campusSkills & Qualifications
Must have a Bachelors Degree in a Scientific Field (Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Medicine, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or something similar)
Must have formal supervisory experience including giving corrective action, running performance reviews with employees, holding team meetings.
Must have experience working in a medical laboratory that performs testing such as Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Microscopy (candidate does not need to be an expert in every area, but should at least have experience with at least 1-2 of those things)
