The Medical Affairs Specialist (MAS) position will develop and maintain professional relationships with prominent healthcare providers and key decision makers as they relate to Thermo Fisher Scientific / Clinical Next Generation Sequencing Division products.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate in this position will provide presentations and enter into strategic discussions with scientific collaborators under the guidance from the EMEA Head of Medical Affairs as it relates to medical/clinical, health economics and outcomes research data. The target audience for these discussions/collaborations will be healthcare professionals, including individual physicians, researchers, medical and pharmacy directors, hospital decision-makers, and others.The MAS will provide ongoing support for clinical presentations and meetings with key physicians/pathologists/oncologists as requested by field sales force and marketing teams focusing on the Italian region.In conjunction with the Medical Affairs team, will support Sales Clinical Training: i.e. working with Sales Director to support training needs to enhance the team's clinical knowledge.In conjunction with the Medical Affairs team, will provide support to the Marketing Team; will development and review new clinical reference tools, sales aides, slide decks, and other resources delivered by sales operations or marketing for use by field sales teams. Will assist Medical and Marketing teams on setting up and supporting Ad Boards, Speaker Trainings, and External Payor Reviews as needed. Will support preparation of medical review slides and materials at national sales meetings, pre-conference meetings, field sales conference calls, etc.Clinical Customer Education: design clinical customer education materials, to improve clinicians' knowledge of molecular testing value. Deliver lectures on cutting-edge technology and total solution in the conferences, on-line webinar and customer workshop, etc.Scientific Meeting Coverage: provide medical affairs coverage of key medical/scientific congresses and cooperative group meetings as needed. Listen for and interpret new clinical data and competitive intelligence, and report back on findings to medical affairs and marketing stakeholders;Supports relationships with Pharma and CRO working in the Oncology space;
Design clinical research studies with key collaborators to ensure rapid adoption of Oncomine content and ensure effective collaboration between TFS and partner scientists/clinicians to meet the aims and successful outcome of the collaboration. Monitor progress and adherence to timelines, commitments, deliverables and contractual obligations;Perform review of clinically related studies including all key project aspects (scope, cost, schedule, risk identification, stakeholder map, communication strategy, all construction safety aspects and project governance);Manage the relationships with clinical working groups and associations to drive adoption or TFS solutions in the fields of Pathology and Oncology;
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree Required: MSc or preferably Ph.D., PharmD. or equivalent, with scientific experience at post-doctoral level and proven scientific track record including publishing peer review articles5 years'+ experience within the Life Science, preferably in an Educator role (e.g., Lecturer, Adjunct of higher)
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong scientific background with ability to successfully communicate and teach in a complex and competitive environmentExperience in molecular oncology, molecular diagnostics, or pathology/anatomy is strongly desiredExperience with working with key opinion leaders in the scientific and medical community is desiredStrong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, both written and oralExcellent knowledge of Italian and English is essential, good knowledge of French is a plus
