This position requires strong leadership skills and behaviours along with technical competence in reading and interpreting engineering documents, Technical & Quality instructions, Safety Documentations and Engineering drawings.
A thorough knowledge of Steam Turbines and Generator Technology is required.
Main Responsibilities:
Perform duties of a Nominated Supervisor or Nominated Competent Person as required in the Safe System of Work, reviewing Work Permits & ensure safety from the system through isolations before commencement of work.Prepare, review where required Risk Assessment & Method statements and their Implementation, Management & Monitoring of Putting People Safely To Work.Daily walk down of the work areas 'Hazard Hunts' and documentation of same in Gen Suite.Ensure all equipment & tooling used by your team is certified and fit for purpose, reporting any defects.Attend site briefings as required, relaying back information to your team.Manage internal and external craft personnel, ensuring compliance to company Safety & Quality processes, procedures and Health & Safety legislation.Ensure adequate and appropriate/efficient use of Material, Tooling & Resources.Interpretation of Engineering Drawings & Technical Instructions.Work under strict Foreign Material Exclusion rules.Understand all aspects of mechanical engineering measuring techniques to very high tolerances and standards, monitoring of measurements.Adherence to Outage Schedules, assist with coordinating & prioritisation of critical path activities.Help manage Quality Control documentation, filling in of Quality documents - Inspection Record Sheets.Assist in management of shift log books & outage schedules (activities, events, agreemements, problems, work completed etc.)Assess craft labour & give feedback on performance.Strong Communication with Site Management essential.
Requirements:
City & Guilds or NVQ Equivalent in Mechanical StudiesRecognized Time served Apprenticeship & ExperienceExtensive knowledge large rotating & static machineryExtensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be requiredFluent in English language
