About MECHANICAL SHOP SUPERVISOR

  Summary You will serve as a MECHANICAL SHOP SUPERVISOR in the MECHANICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will ensure that work is done only when identified in the work package and released by work packaging and control. You will conduct periodic cost and schedule adherence meetings with other Nuclear supervisors/managers, project and code senior representatives and others as necessary to keep cost and schedule on track for the assigned areas. You will plan and schedule Nuclear work and testing within the area/project assigned. You will recommend changes in manning levels and certifying completion of work. You will coordinate the work between various projects and trades. You will plan, schedule and assign work to subordinate employees and shop planners. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in shop work operations and practices of the various trades in the shipyard; Experience managing nuclear projects including fabrication work, contract work, shop work, ship work, and other productive work; Experience planning, coordinating, and managing the work of subordinate personnel; Experience in project management, production control, quality control, cost control, maintenance operations in support of ship repair projects; Experience communicating both in writing and orally to inform, persuade, negotiate, advise, and train others. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
