The Mechanical Inspector will perform inspections and report findings to client and ensure that high-quality standards are met.
Responsibilities:
Inspect per customer requirements; Review estimates, JIC, Work Orders, QA Documents.
Conduct final acceptance inspections on our client’s behalf.
Conduct compliance inspections for AAR, FRA and customer requirements.
Communicate findings to customers on individual car needs in a clear and concise manner.
Performs inspection services within client and AllTranstek budget.
Continually look for new service opportunities. Suggest ways to improve the effectiveness of current responsible area.
Write reports (work product) in a timely manner.
Maintain Company data, back up same data, photos, reports, and documents. Be able to provide this data as needed.
Job Requirements :
Demonstrate progressive mechanical experience in rail car manufacturing and/or maintenance repair facilities. Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of AAR and FRA requirements, and the use of railcar gages. Must know, or can reference, rules, repair procedures, coating requirements per customer, and AAR/FRA requirements.
Ability to read and comprehend customer requirements.
Technical writing skills required. A work sample may be requested.
Proficiency working on computers with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) as well as using cameras, measuring devices, UTT devices, DFT gages, etc.tc.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently.
Maintain work-related equipment and information in a clear and organized manner.
Valid driver license required.
Ability to travel 95-100%. Air travel expected and overnight stays as needed.
Must have a home office environment and ability to work from home daily.
Ability to effectively manage your workload in a timely manner.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hand and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand for long periods of time. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to walk, climb (up/downstairs and ladders), balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl. The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and cold outside temperatures. Employee may work in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to dust or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employee must wear protective equipment consisting of hardhat, fire-retardant clothing, safety glasses, work boots, work gloves, etc.
