Job Description
This role is responsible for strategic planning and development of content marketing assets designed to engage and nurture customers through the buying journey. The manager will:
Be a strategic thinker who understands the role content plays in marketing campaigns and optimal use of channels and formats, based on target audience
Be a talented writer and editor able to elevate solution-related selling messages into a relevant narrative; bring a customer-focused lens to content, with a bent toward innovative and creative approaches to reach the target audience
Bring prior experience in the CRO, pharmaceutical, medical device or healthcare industries
Have experience creating multiple forms of content, including white papers, blogs, case studies, ebooks, infographics, videos, audio, webinars, etc.
Understand the difference and relationship between thought leadership and strategic marketing and their associated activities and messages
Develop a deep understanding of customer segments, personas and journeys across the business
Be comfortable working with SMEs across the organization to leverage their expertise, insights and capabilities toward meaningful content
Communicate content strategy guidance within our marketing and commercial organizations and with key business stakeholders
Essential Functions
Support and advance the organizational content strategy designed to build brand awareness and engage and nurture leads and potential customers
Partner across the marketing & sales enablement team to contribute to a holistic, integrated content strategy and development process
Work closely with marketing leads to plug into campaigns and design and draft a universe of content to support objectives
Develop messaging and content narratives that support enterprise-wide capabilities
Leverage performance metrics and best practices to optimize content, channels and recommendations
Support the editorial process for content planning and creation across our department.
Support the research and development of content strategy guidance and best practices for all channels by creating content strategy documentation
Education and Experience:
7+ years’ experience in content strategy, planning, and development
BA or BS required (MA/MS a plus); preference for degree in a writing-related field, such as journalism, PR, communications or marketing.
Prior CRO, life sciences or pharma industry experience a plus
Experience managing team operations and budget-tracking a plus
In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Able to articulate ideas clearly and concisely, and present as an expert in content development.
Effectively manages expectations with team members, stakeholders and SMEs.
Highly organized and detail-oriented
The ability to understand and differentiate among different customer segments/personas, and consider appropriate content for each, is a plus.
Skills and Abilities :
Capable of independently managing vendors and tracking budgets.
Proficient at integrating SEO keywords into copy in order to ensure content is optimized for search engines.
Creative mindset with knowledge of current social, web and content development and emerging trends
