The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that promote AFB brands and support the growth of the franchise network. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, Franchise Members, and external partners to ensure consistent and effective communication across all channels.
Essential functions
Write, edit and proofread original content for an audience of small business owners within our network.
Edit and proof content originating in other departments to ensure accuracy and the timely distribution of information.
Meet with internal teams to assist in the development of a communications plan to promote programs.
Create and manage communications calendar, ensuring timeliness of communications without oversaturation.
Deploy 600+ general and targeted e-communications, including event promotions, through email platform.
Manage distribution lists.
Conduct phone interviews with Franchise Members to write success stories and case studies.
Write, manage and post content to the company’s intranet.
Monitor and report on communications metrics and achievements.
Educate and train new and existing Franchise Members on communications tools and platforms.
Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in communication and marketing, and drive open rates.

Required education and experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or English.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications or marketing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content for a variety of audiences.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies that drive business results.
Experience in managing and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across different functions and levels.
Knowledge of digital marketing and social media best practices.
Preferred education and experience
Preferred communications experience in franchising industry or multi-brand environment.
Experience with an email distribution platform a plus.
Experience with basic video creation and editing a plus.
Preferred experience with communications using Canadian English.
