Position Summary
The primary focus of the role is to support the Brussels and Luxembourg Partners to translate global strategy into relevant local business development and marketing strategy, including developing and implementing specific business development and client initiatives.
The BeLux transactional practices are strongly interconnected, with a common regional business development and marketing strategy, which translate in both common and individual initiatives. The BD manager role is responsible for the BeLux region and covers the following practices: Debt Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate/M&A, Private Equity, Investment funds, Disputes, Restructuring and Tax.
The successful candidate will be working with driven partners and senior BD team members. The key to success in this role is to bring energy, ideas, commitment, and organisation to the table.
Duties and Accountabilities
Client development Working with partners on client development initiatives, including defining action plans to win more business from existing clients and identifying new targets. Seeking opportunities to cross-sell the office practices across sections in EMEA, Americas, and the rest of the network. Managing and driving the preparation of pitches, proposals, capability statements and other client presentations materials. Developing and executing client development activities including, webinars/seminars, conference sponsorships, client events and thought leadership campaigns. Capturing and analysing data (both quantitative and qualitative) on opportunities, pitch outcomes and feedback Marketing / Communications Managing the office media relations activity and developing innovative ways to increase visibility via engagement with the press, including on social media. Managing the office's profile and presence on the Firm's intranet and website. Implementing best practice and leading the drafting of all relevant directory submissions (Legal 500, Chambers & Partners, etc.), league tables and award entries. Supporting the office employer brand and other recruiting communication campaigns along with HR Manager. Operational Be responsible for the Marketing/Business Development budgeting process for the office. Ensuring first-class business development infrastructure (e.g. credentials, lawyer CVs, CRM database, etc.) is in place and efficient systems exist to capture data, analyze and report. Managing the office's internal bulletins and contributing to other Firm marketing reports. Facilitating the sharing of information with marketing colleagues in other offices and practices. Team Management Leading the BeLux BD & Marketing team, including one BD Specialist based in Brussels. Responsibility for the education, mentoring and career development of direct report(s).

Education, Experience, and other Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a university graduate with sound track record (likely 7 years plus) of relevant business development/marketing experience for another international law firm. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral - good knowledge of Dutch or French, and any other language is an asset. Pragmatic, self-motivated and able to work independently and unsupervised - balanced with a team player attitude. Able to engage, build strong relationships and gain confidence of colleagues at all levels. Commercially minded, strong attention to detail should be balanced by big picture vision. Seasoned project manager with well-developed planning and organization skills - must be able to work to tight deadlines, juggle multiple projects and deliver under pressure. Strong work ethic, sense of professionalism and responsibility. High professional standards, and a passion for working in an international environment. Good systems and database skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM applications.
Reporting
This role reports to the BD Director Continental Europe based in Paris, as well as to the Office Executive Partners of our Brussels and Luxembourg offices.
