SUMMARY:
The Marketing Assistant will report to the Director of Marketing and will provide a wide range of administrative and marketing support on behalf of Basic Books and Seal Press, including the coordination of marketing campaigns for roughly 12 titles/year across both lists, from planning through implementation.
This position will be based in our NY office on a two day a week hybrid schedule.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Independently run marketing campaigns for select titles across the Basic Books and Seal Press listsCoordinate sales conference materials and answer general queries for the sales departmentOrganize mailings to bookstores and influencersWork with third-party organizations and businesses to create cross-promotional opportunities for books and authorsProduce graphic content including banners, quote cards, flyers, and ad hoc graphics using CanvaCommunicate with senior staff, media, booksellers, as well as authors and literary agentsCoordinate the Basic Books/Seal Press annual catalogOwn the department’s project management tasks using Basecamp for catalog and fact sheet productionAdmin duties include: route copy, code invoices, coordinate mailings, schedule meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes, and create and distribute weekly reports.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Interest in book publishing is essential, along with a strong interest in marketing.College degree preferred, minimum of one year of work experience in a fast-paced environment.Solid computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and ExcelProficient with social media, content creation, and Canva preferredFamiliarity with project management software preferredStrong communication skills are essential (verbal and written)The successful candidate must be able to work both independently, on assigned campaigns, and as part of a team. The compensation range for this position is $47,500. Salary can vary based on a number of factors including skills, experience, and location — talk with your recruiter to learn more. There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
