General supervision of day-to-day operations working with management, technical superintendents, Operations Integrity, Marine Personnel, Procurement, and other supporting departments.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Work with supporting teams and management to ensure vessels are crewed, operated, and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations.May involve travel to multiple locations with extended stays away from the homeport. Implements standard procedures and guidelines for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet.Assist in the development of and adherence to the operational budgets.Assist with Investigations and ensure Corrective Actions are developed and implemented to address audit and compliance findings, vessel damage, product spills, and personal injuries.Supervises licensed and unlicensed personnel, and crew management and development.Inspects vessels to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements, as well as general condition.Works with technical superintendent to arrange for maintenance and repair activities to correct any deficiencies.Ensures timely and effective follow-up to vetting and inspections such as SIRE and Safety Management System audits.May arrange for or assist with coordination of assist tugs, pilots, and crew care as necessary.Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field. Direct supervision of union and non-union vessel personnel.Accountable to provide management with reporting and recommendations to ensure work is done safely in accordance with Management Systems or business unit procedures.EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from a Maritime Academy with a USCG Unlimited License. At least 10 years in the maritime industry may substitute for degree.EXPERIENCE:Minimum 5 years as a sailing officer or academy graduate with 2 years sailing. Experience with product tankers or crude oil ships required. Must possess skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving, and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Requires the ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Knowledge of NS5/HELM/ShipNet is preferred.COMPETENCIES:Demonstrated competence in project management.Demonstrated competence in budget development and management.Excellent written communication skills with the ability to present complex topics in a clear and concise manner.OTHER: Long hours, ability to travel, weekend duties and 24-hour "on-
