As Manufacturing Optimization lead you will manage GA manufacturing optimization projects across manufacturing including collaborating with a cross functional teams across Manufacturing Engineering, Plant Production, Quality and Maintenance Teams to design, build and Commission state of the art Automation Projects in our Vehicle Assembly Plants. You will be responsible, while working with GA ME, to maximize efficiency while reducing MCPU. You will also be responsible for all aspects of the development and evaluation of your GM employee team, including goal setting, mentoring, workplace of choice strategies, driving an inclusive environment and safety initiatives. Additionally, you will lead all future hiring initiatives for your team. The work your team will perform involves a considerable amount of creativity and perception and a high level of independent discernment in making decisions.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
Lead staffing and management of the GA Optimization team including planning, integration, validation, and productionizing responsibilities.
Lead the local manufacturing optimization team, strong collaboration with the Manufacturing Engineer to maximize efficiency to reduce MCPU.
Prioritize optimization requests by Engineering and Plant Engineering Director for the ME center.
Lead coordination of automation projects including all Plant integration and pull ahead activities with Continuous Improvement leads, Plant ME Directors and Local Plant Launch Teams
High level of analytical ability & problem solving where problems are unusual and difficult.
High level of problem solving and issue resolution aptitude
Technical capability with knowledge of automated processes
Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources (G-Risks, RYG buyoffs, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing)
Effectively communicate all pertinent information regarding goals, project timelines, or objectives to team members and leadership
Review initiatives and open issues, rapid escalation of issues and/or roadblocks
Assume technical work as required
Incorporate lessons learned and cost savings initiatives into standards, workflows to support future projects and read across to external teams.
Develop the plants operational strategy for a fully optimized operation with the leadership
Coach and mentor, the technical development behavioral growth of team.
Performance management responsibilities for reporting engineers.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 6 years of experience in Manufacturing Operations
Experience leading a technical team.
Previous experience as Project Lead, with the ability to coordinate resources, provide leadership updates, create, and manage critical timelines. report status, and support rapid escalation were required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral).
Strong technical capability working with industrial electrical systems regulations, design and maintenance, automation, and controls systems.
Demonstrated technical project management experience.
Strong knowledge of Automotive Assembly application and operations.
Ability to efficiently manage multiple issues in a fast-paced work environment.
Demonstrate excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with highest level of autonomy and accountability for results
Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others
Proven desire and ability to manage/coach performance of direct reports
Travel for design, construction, and integration as required by ME center requirements
