Job Description Summary
As the Production Supervision Manager for the Dry Conversion Process (DCP) and Furnaces team you are responsible for shift safety, product quality, and efficient product manufacturing. This team is part of the Fuel Manufacturing Operation in the Nuclear business. The team converts UF6 to UO2 powder for use in manufacturing of nuclear fuel for commercial nuclear power plants. The Production Supervision Manager is responsible for one of four DCP continuous operations shifts.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Ensure team members are provided adequate training, resources and support to assure safe manufacturing practices in a nuclear regulated environment
Be responsible for meeting the shift's strict EHS requirements, product quality requirements and production schedule requirements
Serve as the interim site Emergency Director during off shifts and weekends until relieved
Assure operation planning - provide direction to support needs of production area, including work assignments, scheduling of overtime, and training
Focus team on constantly seeking opportunity for improvement. Support, encourage and facilitate Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement projects
Work with manufacturing engineering, support functions and FMO leadership to provide technical, quality and production leadership
Promote safe, compliant shift operations
Promote team engagement and ownership, continuous training
Communicate business goals, programs, and processes to DCP and Furnaces shift. Promote team engagement and ownership, continuous training
Develop and support the growth of all team employees
Support manufacturing leaders in the strategic planning of staffing, equipment and other resources
Basic Qualifications
Minimum 2-5 years of relevant technical and supervisory experience OR;
Minimum of 1-3 year of relevant technical and supervisory experience with Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field
Eligibility Requirements
Ability and willingness to work continuous rotating shift schedule to support a 24/7/365 operation; Standard working shifts are 12 hours; Weekend and holiday coverage required
Ability and willingness to wear a respirator in accordance with site requirements
Ability and willingness to walk up and down stairs multiple times during the day
Desired Characteristics
Prior experience as a process leader and with implementing productivity tools
Strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Manufacturing supervision experience
Proven communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to interpret engineering documentation, such as PIDs
Nuclear plant operations or services experience
Mechanical, chemical or ceramics engineering experience
Experience in manufacturing or nuclear procedure and training development
Knowledge of nuclear fuel manufacturing and the dry conversion process (DCP)
Experience using corrective action tools and techniques
Strong facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience working in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulated environment
Proven ability to create real and positive change
GE Program graduate, OMLP, EEDP, etc. (GE employees only)
Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification
Proficiency or experience operating a distributed control system (DCS), preferably Provox or Mark VIe
Proficiency and experience with the Oracle ERP application
The salary range for this position is $90-115K. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
