The Opportunity
We are currently looking for you to take on the role of Manufacturing Engineering Lead.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to positively influence our organizational culture by modelling a commitment to GM's Cultural Behaviors in driving toward and achieving desired business results.
In this role, you will be directing and guiding a group of Controls and Mechanical Engineers to implement safety, ergonomics, throughput, quality and cost improvements.
This role is well suited to someone who has natural leadership aptitude, experience solving people and equipment problems. As ME Lead you will collaborate frequently with Production, Quality and Maintenance Associates.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processes - SOT, ESCP, SCM, PTP, etc. Interview/ hire new staff members as required Scheduling of team members to the appropriate shift and engineering projects Provide hands-on direction for all activities, initiatives, and engineering projects in the shop Lead the ME team to excel in their performance - including technical direction, mentoring, and project management. Performance management responsibilities for reporting engineers. Regular review meetings with Area Manager and Maintenance SL to communicate status of engineering projects - timelines, milestones, challenges, etc. Attend, advise, and support equipment breakdowns Perform General Duties as Requested by Engineering and Area Managers. Support of shop throughput improvement process - including bottleneck monitoring and analysis. Generate and execute NPP and MBC projects to increase productivity and cost effectiveness.
Additional Description
Who We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience Experience leading a technical team Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral). Experience working with and troubleshooting robotics / controls systems, Fanuc robotics, ControlLogix PLCs and plant application controls and automation. Strong technical capability working with industrial electrical systems regulations, design and maintenance, automation and controls systems. Demonstrated technical project management experience. Intermediate or advanced Control Logix PLC programming. Experience with Variable Frequency Drives and HMIs. General knowledge of Automotive Assembly application and operations. Ability to efficiently manage multiple issues in a fast paced work environment Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD.
