The Manufacturing Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of operations strategies in Billerica, MA to meet safety, quality, production, cost and talent development objectives. You will lead a 5-shift 24/7 cross functional manufacturing operation with Direct Reports of Site Staff Leaders (Engineering, Manufacturing and OpEx) with a rapidly growing workforce currently of 400+ Direct Labor and Individual Contributors. You will Coach and provide direction for Technical Functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Implement innovations into practice for continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives, as well as supporting Maintenance of Business activities.
This exciting and critical Manufacturing Director will be part of the Leadership Team that has responsibility for growing the operations capacity 8x to support customer needs in this newly acquired product portfolio within Cardiac Ablation Solutions : Cardiac Ablation Solutions offers cardiac mapping and ablation solutions to treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. Our vision is to help patients worldwide by advancing innovation for the diagnosis and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias, enabling clinicians to perform procedures with superior outcomes.
Problems and issues faced are difficult, and may require understanding of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. You will actively make improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the job area. Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements.
Lead existing manufacturing operations to ensure flawless execution and continuous improvement.
Employ lean concepts and techniques, working closely with production leadership and OpEx to improve productivity and efficiency.
Plan and administer procedures and budgets.
Make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
Select and develop personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
Develop comprehensive business strategies that assure success of the organization and takes ownership for all aspects of the associated value streams being managed.
Lead senior management with a responsibility to drive technical problem resolution, lead effective product introductions, meet quality objectives, customer demand and financial goals.
Must set clear priorities and assure performance against goals within those priorities.

A Day in the Life
This leadership role will have direct functional responsibility for all enabling functions while we implement the integration and demonstrate stabilization toward our plan to include: Production Management, Facilities and Engineering, Operational Excellence, EH&S, Direct Sourcing, Supply Chain and indirect functional management for Human Resources, Finance, Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality and Compliance.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Full responsibility of a facility consisting of Production, R&D, Clean Room, Warehouse and Offices; with space for future Next Generation (NPD) New Product Development / Site Transfers.
Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.
Plans and administers procedures and budgets.
Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor.
Employ lean concepts and techniques, working closely with production leadership and Operational Excellence (OpEx) to allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
Implement cost reduction, waste reduction, quality improvement, and productivity improvement programs to ensure attainment of key performance metrics and sustainable performance improvements.
Participate in company-wide initiatives to determine One Best Way practices and subsequent local implementation to improve business processes.
Represent Medtronic in the community and in professional organizations at a local or regional level.
Ensures compliance with (FDA, GMP’s ISO) applicable laws and regulations; represent Medtronic and the site’s operations to regulatory representatives.
Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.
Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.
Lead the creation of the current-state and future-state value-stream maps and the implementation plan for getting from present to future.
Manage functions to ensure that activities are performed in compliance with Medtronic’s Quality System requirements and EHS policies.
Maintain conformance to budgetary limitations in all departments.
Recommend and implement training programs to address skill requirements necessary to facilitate internal promotions and job satisfaction to maximize productivity of production employees. As applicable, provides cross-training for production employees to ensure back-up personnel exist for all key positions.
Participate in cross-facility initiatives to determine company-wide best practices and the improvement of business processes.

Experienced Sr Manager / Director – with prior site leadership and/or transformation experience required.
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant Manufacturing Management and Leadership experience within Medical Device or a Regulated Industry with 7+ years of Managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Manufacturing Management and Leadership experience within Medical Device or a Regulated Industry with 7+ years of Managerial experience.
Nice to Have
Degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences.
Medical Device Manufacturing experience.
DMAIC Lean / Six Sigma Certification.
Experience across numerous roles/functions within Manufacturing and Supply Chain with demonstrated success in each area.
Medical Device Manufacturing experience or a similar regulated industry.
Demonstrated business acumen with understanding of the P&L and balance sheet.
Inclusive leader, who builds trust and demonstrates genuine care for people, respecting their unique differences.
Ability to lead teams as well as be a team member, develop talent and hold people accountable to specific time bound objectives

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.
