The Managing Director, Head of Mobile and Schwab.com will play a crucial role in furthering client experiences for the firm. Digital experiences have become the primary way clients interact with us. Mobile has also increasingly become the primary channel clients use to engage with Schwab. The Managing Director will have a strategic and executional role of maintaining and innovating core digital platforms, with a mandate to create an industry-leading, first in class mobile and website experience. This role is specifically a Product Leader role, working with other Design and Engineering leaders to deliver for our clients.
The Managing Director will design and structure their team, manage across partners, and deliver best-in-class mobile, and web experiences in a fast-evolving industry. This leader will lead an important team across several areas – driving mobile and website product innovation, design simplicity, and consistency for clients across mobile and schwab.com for the firm. These areas are tremendously important given our mandate to deliver innovative, delightful experiences in a scalable and consistent way. To lead us, the Managing Director must have a passion for mobile and website product design and innovation, creating strong relationships with our internal clients on mobile, web, digital, business, and technology sides of the firm, in addition to creating processes to best manage the team and drive scale. This leader will need to manage complex work and be effective at driving change across the organization.
The Managing Director will work across a wide range of stakeholders to optimize our experiences, while working with cross-functional partners on product design, client experience, development, and risk management. This role will be responsible for articulating the vision for this team, building scalable practices, and innovating to drive optimized experiences. This is an extremely high-profile, cross-enterprise role within Schwab.
Key responsibilities include:
Shaping a broad strategy for our mobile and web platforms – with the goal of creating industry-leading experiences.
Building an engaged, high-functioning team to work across product, tech, and design teams to deliver on core experiences.
Maintaining strong client focus while driving collaboration and consistency across the firm.
Having a comprehensive understanding of product development lifecycle and agile practices.
Driving execution to business goals, driving alignment across the firm and decisions needed on key trade-offs.
Effectively building relationships, and establishing trust, and competence with partners across the firm.
Driving robust risk management across experiences.
What you have
A minimum of 15 years of experience providing end-to-end mobile app and website product leadership in the financial services industryis a prerequisite.
Deep mobile app product expertise at scale is a key to being successful in this role.
12+ years of experience in people management; plus, a consistent record of building and inspiring effective teams.
Experience driving transformation, change and process improvement through people, process, and technology -
Able to articulate a complex task or analysis to individuals at all levels of the company.
Exceptional manager and motivator of people and teams who can build organizational capacity through a combination of proper organizational structure, hiring, training, and recruiting the best talent available.
Execution-oriented attitude with humility, drive, and a strong growth orientation.
Courageous leader who develops followership and builds high performing, diverse, cross-functional work teams of both direct and other team members rallied around the strategy.
Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths.
Strong emotional intelligence/maturity and senior level executive presence, thriving on initiating, building, and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group.
Strong competence interacting with and influencing senior leaders across business lines with purpose.
Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment, making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
Anticipates the possible demands and outcomes of a particular task or situation – plans and prioritizes appropriately.
Client focused; able to build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence effectively and quickly.
Bachelor's degree required. Post graduate degree is a plus.
Base compensation: $250,000 - $400,000. Your compensation may be different. Talk with your Talent Advisor to learn more. In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
