Position Summary
The Managing Attorney will oversee our Managing Clerks Office and will be responsible for overseeing a team of skilled professionals to manage the Firm's filing and docketing systems, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines, and providing guidance to US attorneys on procedural issues and strategies.
Duties and Accountabilities 1
Leading a staff of skilled litigation and IP clerks and helping to ensure the Firm is correct and timely in all of its filing, docketing, and service obligations, and communicates clearly and effectively with attorneys Continuously improving services and processes to better serve clients, identify and mitigate risks, improve efficiency, and leverage technology, where appropriate Providing advice to attorneys on procedural issues and strategies in US federal and state courts Tracking and monitoring any changes to procedural rules and issues in US federal and state courts, and communicating them to attorneys Overseeing research and analysis projects by the Managing Clerk team Building relationships with internal stakeholders to solicit feedback and with Court personnel in high volume jurisdictions Providing training to lawyers, paralegals, and clerks on court systems, court rules, and preparation, filing, and service of papers Overseeing acceptance of service on behalf of the Firm Performing other duties necessary to support the Firm's strategic goals
Qualifications
Member of the Bar of New York At least 8 years of experience working in a Managing Attorney's Office At least 5 years of demonstrated leadership experience, managing a team of professionals Detailed knowledge of US Federal and State court rules and procedures, especially the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and New York's Civil Practice Law and Rules Expertise in electronic filing, and with WestLaw, LexisNexis, and PACER, NYSCEF, BloombergLaw, and CourtAlert Deep familiarity with litigation practice, and ability to quickly and accurately understand implications and deadlines associated with various filings Excellent organizational, supervisory, project management, communication, and presentation skills High degree of integrity and strong commitment to confidentiality Exceptional judgment, flexibility, and professionalism Ability to field time-sensitive, complicated inquiries and requests Large, international law firm experience helpful, but not necessary
Location and Reporting
This is a hybrid in-office/remote role based in our New York office. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel.
