Responsible for providing oversight of the Division of Transfusion department, Point of Care, and Special Coagulation areas including regulatory readiness, Human Resources related items, scheduling, competency assessment, hiring, firing, and administrative duties; direct and define policy in conjunction with key stakeholders; liaise with leaders in other departments to achieve cross-functional, system-wide, improvements and goals; plan, organize and supervise all of the activities in the Blood Bank laboratory; ensure adequate and safe levels of blood components is maintained; coordinate and assist in the development and implementation of technical and operating procedures for the division in accordance with regulatory requirements; assure Blood Bank compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, including educational, competency, safety guidelines, and reporting; stay abreast of Federal regulatory changes; oversee and assist in maintaining the quality control program; oversee and assist in maintaining up to date technical procedures; prepare and review various management reports or logs; participate in LIS database development for the division; meet with current and prospective new vendors to maintain and develop working relationships; oversee and assist with the selection and implementation of new or alternate tests and methods; utilize and apply knowledge of CAP standards, bio-statistical sampling/analysis techniques, Stat-a-Matrix, budget development procedures, workflow management, quality assurance processes, High Reliability Organization protocols, blood supplier blood collection/testing protocols, data collection oversight and lean assessments to perform duties; coordinate therapeutic apheresis services; prepare and review various forecasts and reports which impact the divisional budgets; communicate with blood product suppliers to predict price increase and product availability; monitor supply inventories and place orders to ensure uninterrupted services; participate in contract renewal with apheresis service providers; implement and monitor various divisional and/ departmental quality assurance ("QA") processes; and review various QA reports to assure optimal patient care.
