About the role:
Our Telematics team takes real-time signals from our IoT devices deployed in vehicles (think: GPS, Engine RPM, Fuel Levels, and hundreds more) and processes them to help our customers make their vehicle fleets safer, greener, and more efficient.
As an Engineering Manager working in the Compliance group at Samsara, you will lead an engineering team that helps our customers stay compliant with driving regulations in different countries. You will hire and develop your team, define project plans and roadmaps, and work with your engineers to define next-generation technology across our platform. You will work closely with the product management and customer support teams to help improve the quality of our product.
The Compliance team is a cross-functional product engineering team that primarily works across backend, web, mobile, and Spark and collaborates closely with product managers, designers, firmware engineers, and customer support to build out our feature sets. The technology stack includes Typescript, React, ReactNative, Golang, GraphQL and Spark.
We are looking for a proactive, organised, and highly motivated engineering manager who enjoys being close to the detail. Creating and maintaining a culture of feedback, and making things happen while keeping things fun for the whole team, will be something you will strive to achieve and uphold.

In this role, you will:
Plan and deliver against the roadmap, delivering features and infrastructure enhancements to delight customers. Collaborate with senior engineers to drive and facilitate technical strategy and improvements. Collaborate and work with adjacent engineering teams in platform and firmware to deliver products and improvements. Set quarterly goals and balance product/engineering priorities for maximum impact Participate with senior leadership and cross-functional peers to develop a long-term roadmap and strategy for Samsara’s compliance feature sets. Report and present your team’s wins, lessons learned, and progress to leadership. Set a high standard for the reliability of your components Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices Hire, develop, and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team Minimum requirements for the role:
Experience building scalable, mission-critical SaaS applications Experience operating, maintaining, and improving upon large-scale application services Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment Strong track record of delivering products and features that customers love Proven record of attracting top talent and coaching the team 8+ years of relevant software engineering work experience 5+ years of hands-on technical management experience You speak English proficiently An ideal candidate also has:
