We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join Snap!
What you’ll do:
Team Leadership: Provide strong leadership, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Develop the medium term technical vision and roadmap for real time infrastructure.
Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of real time infrastructure projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and deadlines.
Technical Guidance: Offer technical expertise and guidance to team members, assisting them in overcoming challenges and making informed decisions. Foster a culture of operational excellence, and vet systems designs within the scope of the broader big data infrastructure.
Collaboration: Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams, promoting effective communication and coordination to ensure seamless integration of big data solutions.
Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team performance.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
In-depth experience building and operating data systems at scale, with a focus on real-time data processing.
Strong in Java, C++, and/or Python, with a strong coding background in building robust and scalable systems
Strong understanding of the operational aspects of systems, and the ability to participate in incident or hotfix investigation and resolution
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, enabling effective teamwork across diverse technical teams
Familiarity with other Big Data technologies, NoSQL solutions, Spark Streaming, Flink, Kafka, and cloud services (like Kubernetes, Google Cloud, AWS)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of experience
11+ years of software development experience
2+ years of experience leading or managing a technical team
Specialization in building backend services and distributed systems
Familiarity with Apache Spark/Flink/Iceberg, Google Dataflow/Beam, or other pertinent big data technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience building Flink/Spark or similar platform that serves enterprise use cases.
Expertise in building and optimizing large-scale big data applications
Hands-on experience deploying Spark/Flink on platforms like Kubernetes, ideally in a cloud setting
Familiar with MLOps/platforms with a large data footprint, such as training/feature data
Expertise in areas such as large-scale microservices, cloud computing, infrastructure design, networking, and data storage

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this position is $222,000-$333,000 annually.
Zone B (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :
The base salary range for this position is $211,000-$316,000 annually.
Zone C (https://careers.snap.com/us-payzones) :
The base salary range for this position is $189,000-$283,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
