Our project development efforts require strong stakeholder relationships for our business to be successful. The Manager of Stakeholder Relations, California will partner with cross-functional teams to execute stakeholder engagement strategies in support of clean energy project development efforts. The role will be based in California and report to the Sr. Manager, Stakeholder Relations, California. The role requires frequent travel to communities where projects are located as well as occasional travel to regional offices.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Lead efforts in project communities, including developing and implementing of stakeholder engagement plans in coordination with regional and project teams
Assure that the Sr. Manager of Stakeholder Relations and appropriate colleagues are updated on the status of each plan and any issues or opportunities
Between 30-50% travel may be required!
Stakeholder Engagement & Project Support
Foster and maintain relationships with elected and government officials, external trade/interest groups, community and other stakeholders
Support project teams by identifying and presenting solutions to community-based development challenges
Lead third-party consultants hired to assist with engagement strategies
Represent AES and/or present at various business, government, and community meetings and events.
Mobilize individuals and organizations to demonstrate support for AES' projects
Attend and monitor local government proceedings related to projects as needed
Track external engagement in a digital database (CRM).
Community Partnerships & Impact
In alignment with AES' Social Impact Program, develop a strategy that identifies and builds strategic community partnerships that strengthen positive impact in project communities and support AES' brand and reputation.
Achieve cross-functional buy-in for partnerships; manage approval and compliance process
Communications & Events
Support communication and collateral needs of the region (in coordination with the communications team), including writing messaging, drafting content, identifying and supporting local marketing opportunities, submitting award nominations, etc.
Work with the communications team to identify and execute local media opportunities
Monitor social and traditional media, including local media in areas targeted for project development
Plan, coordinate, and staff in-person and virtual events, including but not limited to, community meetings and site tours
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required>5 years of experience in government or public affairsExperience in community organizing or political campaigns desiredBackground working with local elected officials preferred!Proficient with Microsoft Office, using virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and CRM tools such as QuorumAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $120,000 and $144,500/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment.
