Eaton’s Canadian division is currently seeking a Manager, Large/Major Projects Group. This role is located out of Burlington, CA.
The Manager of Large/ Major Projects Group is responsible for leading the national complex projects team managing large and major and all direct customer orders to provide world class project management services. Working very closely with project managers, senior managers across our business, channel partners and customers, the Manager of Complex Projects is required to be innovative to maximize technical and commercial support while meeting team productivity, project milestones, financial order management and sales objectives. The goal is to create value and establish superior support and service levels as a key differentiator from our competitors.
The Manager of Large/ Major Projects manages the day- to- day department functions and continuous improvement of complex Engineered-to-order (ETO) and Assembled-to-order (ATO) Customer Project business. The position is responsible for 14-16 direct reports to include Project Specialists (Technical and Commercial), document control and post- sales support specialist.
What you’ll do:
Understand the unique needs specific to sales districts and customer accounts, determine best industry practices and policies through collection of customer satisfaction data and benchmarking; and devise appropriate support strategies and structural/procedural changes across all functions
Direct the workflow within the team, forecast the projected workload, and manage the assignment of new business
Implement procedures and guidelines for all functional areas within the project management team
Assist team members on complex issues resolutions as needed on large projects where no PMs are assigned.
Enable digital mindset within the team to drive project management support on a digital foundation.
Meet/exceed current team metrics. Establish performance objectives, devise specific reporting metrics, to drive consistent improvements in process, customer satisfaction, responsiveness and ease of doing business with Eaton
Build relationships with sales management, project managers, channel partners, customers, product line management and operations to assist with our topline sales objectives
Coordinate marketing and product line sales and pricing strategies with all sales districts and engineered to assembly plants to ensure that strategies are supported throughout the project management team
Forecast project activity to allow for proactive management of resources within the team and provide relevant forecasting information to key manufacturing facilities
Evaluate customer feedback and implement action plans as necessary
Coordinate scheduling, training and development of employees and assess personnel performance via TalentHub, methodically managing both high and poor performance
Establish and maintain relationships with counterparts within EatonCare and US Project Management/IT teams to ensure sharing of best practices and representing Canadian interests in ongoing projects.
Ensure that appropriate business policies, practices, and relationships are established and maintained with customers and channel partners
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Post Secondary Diploma or College Degree from an accredited institution
Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management, customer service or various plant functions
Minimum of 3 years managerial experience.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without company sponsorship now and in the future
No relocation provided. Candidates must reside within 80 km of Burlington to be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, electrical or mechanical engineering
A Master’s Degree in Business Administration
Previous experience in the electrical industry
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Bilingual (French & English) candidates
Skills:
Effective communication skills to interface effectively with team members, across all levels of the organization, cross functionally from other departments and with customers
A strong working knowledge of all products, with emphasis on Engineered to Order and Assembled to Order products and their application
Demonstrated professional presence, communicates articulately and confidently
Advanced working knowledge of MS Office skills; PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
Previous knowledge of project management, sales techniques, customers, and customer relations
Extensive knowledge of data analytics and proprietary electronic tools (Bid Manager, Order Manager, Global Vista, Oracle)
