As such, it is essential that we have a strong communications professional on the ground who understands the local landscape across stakeholders, inclusive of employees, media and external partners. The Manager of Kentucky Communications will be responsible for creating and implementing internal and external communications strategies to enhance and protect Beam Suntory's reputation in Kentucky. This includes internal communications strategies to drive employee engagement among our Kentucky-based employee population, developing our employer value proposition to attract and retain great talent, building our external profile through proactive media relations that result in positive media coverage and conveying our company values and contributions to the state.
Based in Kentucky, this role will be part of the Corporate Communications team, reporting to the Director of Communications for North America and Supply Chain. This person will work closely with global communications colleagues, ensuring constant join-up to global communications strategies, messages and priorities. Continuous close partnership will also be required with other key stakeholders including the James B. Beam Distilling Company and Maker's Mark Brand Houses, Public Affairs, HR, Operations, and Suntory, among others.
As part of a collaborative global communication function, in some instances, this role may also extend to support with or lead broader communications projects which extend beyond Kentucky, including but not limited to global manufacturing communications.
Role Responsibilities Work closely with plant and other cross-functional leaders within Kentucky to develop and execute communications strategies that support and enable our business objectives. With oversight from direct manager, develop internal communications strategies to drive employee engagement in Kentucky that can also serve as a global model for manufacturing communications. Serve as key connector to bring corporate messages to manufacturing employees. Provide internal corporate comms support for our corporate teams and operations in Kentucky - ensuring that global and North America communications are landing appropriately in the market and supporting leaders in Kentucky to communicate effectively with their own teams. Partner with HR to continue raising the bar in employee experience and develop communications strategies to help promote employee engagement. Provide communications support for key Supply Chain projects such as manufacturing communications, procurement transformation and S&OP implementation. Publicize successes and highlight individual and team achievements from across the Kentucky in our global internal comms platforms and externally, as appropriate Create and execute internal and external communications strategies around key corporate announcements Build and maintain relationships with key Kentucky-based media. Build our Employer Brand in Kentucky. This includes related media engagement, speaking opps, supporting with workplace awards. Lead on communications regarding our Proof Positive achievements and activities in Kentucky Maintain close partnership with Public Affairs to liaise on key risks and opportunities facing our industry in Kentucky. Partner with brand PR to shape and land crossover stories between corporate and brand. Find opportunities to leverage brand moments into internal and external corporate stories. Manage internal or external reactive or crisis communications issues as needed and create communications strategies to mitigate issues from arising in the first instance. Qualifications Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills Collaborative style, works well in cross-functional teams. Some media relations / external communications experience, with a desire to grow in this area. Experience communicating to a manufacturing or deskless-employee audience strongly preferred Strong initiative, proactivity and degree of autonomy. Professional maturity - able to manage issues and solve problems independently and proactively. The ability to work independently and meet deadlines, ensuring line manager is updated on progress and consulted on key issues. Project management skills: manage projects from brief to completion. Ensure complete ownership of projects to the end. Strong stakeholder management skills. Ability to work within a matrixed organization. Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects and thrive in a rapid-paced, constantly changing environment. Strong team player, eager to roll up sleeves and support broader initiatives as they arise. Minimum 5-7 years' experience in the communications field, such as corporate communications, employee and change communications, public affairs or manufacturing communications. Bachelor's or master's degree in communications or a related field. Office-based role with flexibility to work remotely up to 40% of the time.
