JOB SUMMARY: The Communications Manager for Internal Communications is a creative thinker and an accomplished storyteller, with a proven ability to manage multiple, complex internal communications channels and workstreams, and a track record of leading impactful employee engagement campaigns. As a leader for the Internal Communications team, the Communications Manager will support company objectives by crafting narratives and messaging highlighting Universal’s goals and strategy while also building a strong internal Team Member Brand.
The Communications Manager plans, writes and manages news and editorial content across multiple channels, including newsletter, email, and Universal Orlando Resort’s intranet. The Communications Manager is expected to streamline workflows, while ensuring our content is not only timely and accurate, but also resonates with our strategy and brand identity.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Planning and Development
Executes a team member-first news and editorial content strategy in a way that inspires, empowers, and connects emotionally with our Team Members.
Plans and collaboratively composes newsletters, web articles, collateral materials, and on-demand email communications while providing effective supervision and guidance to the team responsible for producing content.
Creates communication plans for key initiatives at Universal Orlando Resort that are strategically on-brand.
Conducts interviews with internal clients and stakeholders as part of the messaging development process.
Partners with team leaders to formulate and execute editorial content plans as required.
Analyzes communication metrics and feedback to measure the effectiveness of internal communications strategies and make data-driven improvements.
Provides regular, clear, and constructive feedback to the Communications Specialist, supports ongoing learning, and contributes to the
Specialist’s continuous development within the communications team.
Content Execution and Delivery
Creates a solid content calendar that helps guide and streamline planning, execution, and delivery for multiple channels.
Coordinates content through the necessary review and approval processes, ensuring timely delivery in alignment with partner channels (e.g., AskHR, uKNOW, etc.)
Manages updates on digital platforms, including the Team Member Events Calendar, Digital Slides, and UOTeam.com.
Helps produce and supervises the distribution of all email communication, consistently proposing solutions and improvements to the email strategy.
Client Request & Workflow Management
Oversees client communication request process.
Identifies opportunities to continually refine processes and recommend solutions to improve workflow, task management, and prioritization for deliverables.
Develops and coaches the Sr. Coordinator of Internal Communications to effectively track, monitor, and follow up on requests and provide excellent client service to our partners.
Client Partnerships
Fosters positive working relationships with client groups, such as Human Resources, to understand key business needs and translate them into compelling internal communication messaging.
Ensures Internal Communications is engaged in meetings related to new products, marquee events, team member policies, etc. to influence and advise communication plans and strategy.
Contributes to special communication task forces as needed.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree with a focus on Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or other relevant coursework.
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years' experience working in the field of content, media, communications, marketing, digital media, or digital communications, whether in an agency, freelance capacity, nonprofit or corporate setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
