What Your Job Will Be Like:
The Information Technology Infrastructure Group, 9770, at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL), is looking for a dynamic individual to lead and manage Department 9774, Data Center Operations, as our Manager of Information Systems Engineering. We are seeking a forward-thinking IT leader who is technically curious, aware of industry trends, and has a reputation of leading teams to success. The successful manager will be responsible for IT services which include Storage, Data Center Facilities Infrastructure Team (DCFIT), Core Networking, and Firewall/Secure Access technologies (SAT).
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the critical IT services. This includes working in collaboration with the SNL Facilities team in several 24x7 data center environments to ensure all critical systems are operational supporting the mission of the IT infrastructure for Sandia National Laboratories on both the unclassified and classified levels. The Classified Workstation (CWS-0176) and Data Center Optimization Initiative (DCOI) program is managed under the purview of this manager.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Leadership and oversight for all data center services
Develop strategy for technology maturation of critical technologies and lead projects and help develop the hardware roadmap for the data center team
Collaborate with customers, vendors, and IT partners across Sandia to provide innovative design solutions, and architect data center infrastructure to model industry standard methodologies.
Develop and communicate a vision and strategy to focus the talents of the data center infrastructure team and solve difficult issues with facility infrastructure and network systems and provide solutions
Support full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) for Enterprise IT solutions and manage valuable assets and tracking utilizing a data center information management (DCIM) tool
Deliver results, effectively manage people, guide multidisciplinary teams and work with sensitive information and classified matter
Apply your knowledge of technical business development (may only apply to certain organizations)
Organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks and projects
Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, mentor, and the lead the organization to achieve overall team goals, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements (including hiring, performance management, professional development, etc).
Propose and implement business recommendations to improve operations, performance, and management assurance
Foster an environment of inclusion and take an active leadership role in modeling and growing values in diversity, equality, and inclusion
Oversee development of business and financial plans, reports, and analyses
Manage environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance issues affecting logistics operations in accordance with Sandia rules and guidelines
The selected applicant can work a combination of onsite and offsite work. The selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Qualifications We Require:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field plus 8 years of relevant experience; or equivalent (AS + 12 years or no degree + 16 years)
Experience leading or managing programs, projects, services, and/or teams
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Qualifications We Desire:
Two years of demonstrated leadership experience.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and meet technical, programmatic, and financial requirements to the satisfaction of the customer in the execution of complex information technology projects.
Experience with developing and managing budgets.
Professional certifications in Project Management (e.g. Project Management Professional, Stanford Advanced Project Management) and/or an Information Technology Service Management certification (e.g. ITIL, Lean IT).
Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with other organizations to achieve common technical and programmatic goals.
Proficiency with and demonstrated innovation in the lifecycle engineering of computing infrastructure. For example, enterprise architecture, system change and release processes, technology road mapping, business relationship management, etc.
Demonstrated understanding of information system accreditations, cyber and physical security, vulnerability assessments, and the management of classified document repositories.
An active DOE Q-level security clearance is desired to start, with the ability and willingness to obtain additional Other Governmental Agency (OGA) clearances, which requires agreement to participate in random polygraph testing.
About Our Team:
Department 9774, Data Center Operations, is responsible for IT services which include Storage, DCFIT, Core Networking and Firewall/Secure Access technologies (SAT). This includes working in collaboration with the SNL Facilities team in several 24x7 data center environments to ensure all critical systems are operational in supporting the mission of the IT infrastructure for Sandia National Laboratories. The storage team architects and delivers all Enterprise storage services for redundancy, automatic failover, and failback. The firewall team delivers secure network traffic control inside and outside the laboratory, ensuring state-of-the-art application delivery. Lastly, the Core Networking team ensures application and service availability, connectivity, resiliency, to both internal and external customers. All these services operate on both the unclassified and classified levels. Data Center Operations serves Sandia by providing data center facilities, optimize information systems at the enterprise level through process and technology consolidation, simplification, and standardization. In doing so, we enable our customers in satisfying their needs, enhance their ability to perform their mission, and ultimately transform their business operations
