Position Summary:
As part of the Discovery Bioanalytical division, the Manager II provides direction to the Metabolism LCMS group and leads a laboratory team conducting LCMS analysis in support of chemistry studies to ensure testing is completed in a high-quality manner within established timelines. Performs managerial duties including full range of recruitment activities, performance evaluation activities, salary administration, prepares training plans, and executes Affirmative Action goals in department and develops skills of technical staff and sets performance goals.

Experience in laboratory management and supervision of technical staff.LC/MS experience.Skilled in time management, planning, and budgeting.Skilled in problem solving and effective decision-making skills.Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all staff and management levels.Strong communication and presentation skills.Advanced knowledge of computers and programs.
Other Essential Duties:
Assures quality data collection.Independently tracks, analyzes, and provides recommendations regarding departmental financial data, particularly related to forecasting, revenue production, and cost management.Interprets and implements policies affecting staff, the fiscal management, and the technical management of the assigned group.Effectively works with North American and Global counterparts to ensure consistency of processes within Chemistry units. Represents own operational department on interdepartmental committees.Assists in planning, marketing, and project activities for Metabolism.Functions in a leadership role within Metabolism department management.Develops proposals for clients and acts as an internal and external expert for LCMS methodology Occasionally performs hands-on development of LCMS assays and sample analysis.
Education:
PhD in chemistry or equivalent degree. Experience may be substituted for education. Two years of related experience with PhD degree, seven years of related experience with BS Chemistry degree.
