The Mattel Human Resources team is searching for an HR Manager (HRBP) located in our Mississauga, Toronto office location. Mattel Canada consists of our Canada Commercial team including functions such as, Sales, Marketing, Licensing, Operations, among others. HR leadership supports all local functions with a focus on broader functional Commercial activities & will also include HRBP responsibilities for remote workers in other North America locations.
Job Description The Opportunity:
The HRBP plays a strategic role within the Mattel organization. Reporting into the Director, Human Resources for the North America Division, this role is the primary HR lead Mattel Canada. The HRBP will interact with all functions in the local office and participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) there. This role partners with all employees, delivering a meaningful, end to end employee experience.

Translate talent and culture priorities into locally relevant plans that attract, develop, and retain best-in-class talentPartner with business leaders to strategically assess business needs and remove barriers by delivering people strategy and solutionsCoach leaders to manage and maximize the skills/capabilities of their team members to create an environment of empowerment and accountabilityIdentify training and development opportunities for the team and find solutions for implementationPartner with business leaders to implement talent development programs within each business unit (e.g., workforce planning, succession planning, performance management process, and organizational development)Implement HR initiatives at the site and provide feedback to COEs to ensure success and adoption of the process/activityIn partnership with the HR Director, provide strategic thought leadership to the Country Manager, including, but not limited to org design, development & coaching, team building, talent assessments/planningCreate and maintain task forces at the site to drive philanthropy efforts and employee engagementIntake any employee relations issues and partner with the Employee Relations team on resolutionsWork with people managers and the Talent Acquisition team to create a strong employment value proposition in the local marketProvide HR support to the US Retail Service team, learning applicable US employment law and operationsParticipate or lead division wide projects as assigned by the Director Qualifications What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree within related field, plus 7 years’ experience within the Human Resources function, with 3+ years as an HR Business PartnerHigh business acumen, demonstrating knowledge of a commercial organizationUnion labor relations and experience with labor negotiationsExperience supporting executive leaders and driving people strategiesComprehensive organizational development and change management experienceExperience mapping out communication plans and executing complex changes within an organizationAbility to ground solutions in data and present recommendationsEmbrace challenges and enjoy problem solvingKnowledge of Canada employment law & benefitsComfortable working virtually with the Director and COE teams located at HQ Preferred:
