  The Electronics and Sensors Division (ESD) is a world-class engineering and scientific leader in electronics and remote sensing systems. Our staff includes subject matter experts across a broad range of disciplines including radio frequency; infrared; visible and spectral sensors; sensor exploitation methods; analog and digital electronics; vehicle power systems; and space system electronic parts, materials, and processes. Our expertise, combined with sophisticated in-house laboratories, prototyping, modeling, and simulation capabilities, enables ESD to deliver innovative solutions to national space systems and civil customers.

  What You'll Be DoingProviding technical leadership to junior staff members solving challenging problems in multi-sensor data analysis, exploitation, and integration in overhead persistent infrared (OPIR) mission areas executed by the United States Space Force, Space Systems Command; Missile Defense Agency; Space Development Agency; and other community members.Directing and supporting technical projects through the application of mathematical principles for the evaluation, development, and selection of processing techniques for the purpose of calibration, background suppression, signal augmentation, target detection, geolocation, and multi-target and multi-sensor tracking of dim targets.Recommend staffing needs for the organization and lead or assist in the recruiting process.Leading and developing junior staff members in the application of data exploitation and data analytics to provide independent verification and validation of new image and signal processing algorithms and inform trade studies to optimize performance of space sensors.Assisting the Director with managing the department, allocating and managing resources, meeting with customers, identifying new support opportunities, providing coaching and mentorship, and conducting performance reviews.What You Need to be Successful

  Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in science, mathematics, or engineering8 years in roles of increasing engineering/scientific responsibilityFamiliarity with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C/C++, IDL and MATLAB within Unix/Linux programming environments.Experience developing detection, background suppression, and tracking algorithms and their application to imagery dataExperience conducting modeling and simulation, test data generation, algorithm performance trade studies, and reporting findings to stakeholdersExperience applying artificial intelligence/computer vision methods to imagery dataDemonstrated success conducting long-range technical studiesAbility to lead teams and mentor junior engineersStrong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work interactively and effectively with government customers and contractor personnelPosition requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearanceHow You Can Stand Out

  It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:Advanced degree from an accredited program in science, mathematics, or engineeringA current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.Familiarity with two or more of the following programming languages: Python, C/C++, IDL and MATLAB within Unix/Linux programming environments.Subject matter expertise in applying advanced computer processing techniques like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and computer vision to remote sensing data.Prior people management experience.We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

  $103,300 - $151,550 - $199,800
