CONTEXT & SCOPE
The Diageo Canada Customer Operations Team works to ensure the on-time and in-full delivery of Spirits, Ready to Drink, Beer and non-alcohol products to the Canadian Liquor Board Customers through effective order and bailment inventory management. They achieve this by coordinating with cross functional teams and building strong working relationships with The Liquor Control Boards and their Commercial partners. The Customer Operations Manager provides the strategic leadership and tactical guidance to the associates within this team and for customer service activities across Diageo Canada.

Proficient at making sound business trade-off recommendations across cost, service, and cashflow to arrive at appropriate business solutions.Responsible for leading bailment finished goods inventories valued at up to $10M against stretching cashflow goals.Responsible for active management balancing freight cost against service requirements for our Bailment Provinces.Accountable for handling Liquor Board financial penalties through overall supply performance.
Role Complexity
Actively run bailment supply planning and replenishment process to ensure appropriate inventory levels against service and cashflow goals.Apply in-depth knowledge of supply planning, supply chain, and logistics to monitor and assess issues that may impact the ability to achieve business goals.Work within the various rules and regulations across Canada as they relate to the bailment supply activitiesServe as main point of contact for inquiries from Liquor Control Board (LCB) contacts and commercial partners.Maintain, monitor, and influence the results of Key Performance Indicators across service, cost, and quality.Actively manage exceptions outside of the core supply replenishment process, including but not limited to customer claims, quality issues, and stock transfers.Represent customer operations in cross functional meetings to shape and influence key critical business processes, such as innovation, system enhancements, and logistics network.Take a leadership role in the continued development and refinement of Customer Operations processes and metrics to drive continuous improvements in service, cost, cashflow, and quality.
Leadership Responsibility and Capabilities
Provide leadership and development plans for a team of four Associates, two VAP Coordinators, a Direct Import Associate and a Bailment Planner. Manage key activities across the team.Possess the ability to influence key customers across various functional teams and organizational levels, and outside Diageo.Develop and maintain strong relationships with key commercial partners, LCB contacts, and functional team leads.Possess strong desire and ability to learn and develop key skillsets to advance this position’s capabilities and provide personal growth.Active engagement in Diageo compliance agenda required.
Key Deliverables
Lead team toward achievement of critical metric goals, including but not limited to service, cost and cash.Champion best in class service from the bailment warehouses through to retail customers by working collaboratively across Demand and Supply functions.Proactively address and communicate issues that might impact overall performance.Develop and facilitate regular collaborative meetings with key contacts within the supply chain.Handle customer deductions through to resolution, and coordinate with the Quality Team as appropriate.Actively lead and support new product startups and product discontinuations.Drive continuous improvements in business processes, share best in class practices, and ensure appropriate alignment with other business units.
QUALIFICATIONS
Key Skills
5+ years of experience in supply chain roles of increasing responsibility within a fast-paced CPG company.In-depth understanding of supply planning processes; Experience with SAP APO planning module preferred.4 year bachelors Degree or equivalent in supply chain, business management, or related fields.Ability to effectively interact / integrate into customer service and order management processes.Experience leading and developing team of direct reports, or equivalent demonstrated ability.Strong written and verbal communication skills required.Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with customers and key partners.Strong analytic and problem-solving skills; Demonstrated ability to develop robust business solutions.Understanding of the order-to-cash (OTC) cycle; Preferred experience within SAP OTC modules.Proven capability with MS Office Applications; Ability to effectively and efficiently manipulate data into information and insights.
