Job Description
Reporting to LatAmDirector LatAm, the Senior Corporate Counsel will serve as the legal expert and business partner for several businesses and departments of the company in Mexico.
S/he will provide counsel and negotiate transactions partnering with Commercial teams and support areas such as Regulatory, Operations, IT, HR, Finance and Compliance departments. We are seeking a seasoned, dynamic, pragmatic and collegial life science attorney who wants to broaden their area of expertise. Specific Responsibilities:
Lead the negotiating and drafting of strategic agreements with key accounts, channel partners and vendors;
Act as primary point of contact for multiple client groups within the company, leveraging internal and external resources to timely and cost-effectively meet the legal needs of client groups;
Provide primary legal support on contracts process, a heavy workload of contractual matters, refine contracts processes and provide trainings;
Collaborate with commercial, operations and regulatory departments on various projects including development of new business models in new territories of the region;
Provide subject matter expertise, legal support and guidance on the development and application of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and related supporting procedural documents;
Manage outside counsels in Mexico;
Collaborate with colleagues in other LatAm countries, US, Europe and APAC exchanging experiences;
Provide ad hoc legal support on special projects as needed
Qualifications / Requirements:
Excellent academic qualifications; candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of relevant in-house experience;
Fluent English are required (Speaking, Listening and Writing, including technical writing for contracts and notifications). Portuguese language skills are desirable;
Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills;
Ability to effectively evaluate legal exposure, manage risk and develop creative, client-focused solutions to achieve business goals within appropriate legal guidelines;
Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, identifying and prioritizing high-risk and mission critical transactions;
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines, leveraging internal and external resources to meet multiple simultaneous deadlines;
Willingness to pitch-in and help on legal projects across the organization;
Experience with contract management system to track contract requests; create and manage contract templates, reports to retrofit the business with data analytics and strategy;
Experience in training business partners on company policies;
Excellent research, writing, counselling and communication skills and a positive client service Orientation;
Ability to work independently, as a team member, and across the organization;
Accountability, sound judgment, and the ability to take ownership of an issue and provide concise and timely advice
