Overview
Within CRG Controllership, the statutory compliance team are overall accountable for Local GAAP reporting and compliance and the full end to end audit process.
Expectations
This role is responsible for local GAAP reporting and compliance including indirect tax reporting across all the countries supported and ensuring that the results are accurate. They should be comfortable with challenging the status quo and proactively seeking out new ideas and solutions to strengthen performance within their immediate team. They should be able to implement these new ideas and solutions with support from leadership.
The individual should be a self-starter who can help develop a consistent foundation of high-quality data, while ensuring the ongoing day-to-day management and maintenance of that foundation. This will include but is not limited to ownership of the Local GAAP data, identification of areas where change would be beneficial and ensuring that they have good problem-solving skills in order to provide guidance and support to direct reports and colleagues for identifying issue resolution.
Management responsibilities
Management of a team within Stat Compliance to include all staffing concerns (hiring, training, supervision, continuous development)Coaching, mentoring, professional development of the Stat Compliance team)Review and approval of the work and submissions of stat team membersEnsuring consistent and accurate application of statutory accounting and tax processes by the stats teamMonitoring and reporting of progress on stats projects managed by their teamPoint of escalation for difficult and challenging issues
Key responsibilities
Each member of the team manages their own portfolio of CRG entities, with activities including:
Project management:Project planning and deadline management (financial statements, audits, annual and interim corporate tax returns)Coordination with auditors, tax advisors etcCoordination with internal accounting teams and external accountantsCoordination with tax team for technical reviews and approvals for tax filingsDocument control and coordination of signaturesNegotiation of advisor/auditor fees and tracking vs AOPReview of advisor engagement lettersAudit meetingsFollow up and resolution of issuesMaintaining internal project trackers and database information
Technical and accounting:Performing reconciliations between US GAAP and local GAAP accounting records.Performing reconciliations between local GAAP profit and taxable profit.Audit/tax query resolutionPreparation of supporting schedules and analysesReview of financial statementsReview of tax computations and returnsReview of legal documentationIndirect tax (eg. VAT) compliance returns and all other local tax and financial/statistical returns
Other:Coordination with legal department over company secretarial complianceSupport treasury department with respect to dividends and global cash managementAssistance with tax investigations and auditsAd hoc reporting as required (eg interim accounts, statistical analyses)
Job Qualification
Education and Experience:
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (equivalent to 8+ years of direct experience or a recognized accounting qualification equivalent to CPA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA) including at least 3 years of management responsibilitySelf-starter who is organized and has strong technical skills.Effective communications skills, both verbal and written; ability to collaborate with multiple relationships across different countriesAbility to effectively manage, coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines, and demonstrated successful ability to adapt to and work in a fast paced, highly dynamic work environment.Ability to understand US and Local GAAP accounting topics as well as to understand how CRG has applied them in a complex ERP environment.Experience using cloud-based applications such as Oracle ERP, Workday, etc will a plus.Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or other related field, or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualifications
