The Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Division is seeking an experienced Manager 3 – Operations Manager. This position can be stationed at any of the Defense Systems manufacturing facilities which are Northridge, California; Mesa, Arizona; Plymouth, Minnesota; Elkton, Maryland; and Rocket Center, WV. This position will manage a team of operations professionals with a focus on regulatory compliance, injury prevention and occupational health services. Included in these responsibilities will be supporting the Operations Director with capacity studies throughout our product lines.
Responsibilities
Manage the Environmental, Health and Safety department providing daily oversight of the Environmental, Health and Safety team including prioritizing efforts, costs, and resources.
Using best practices and lessons learned from a Manufacturing Engineering and EHS where challenges and issues arise
Coach, support, and motivate to ensure a high performing team.
Maintain team budgets, schedules, and resources to effectively meet business goals.
Ensure compliance to Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations and laws.
Ensure that adequate risk identification and mitigation efforts are conducted.
Promote a proactive safety culture, imposing awareness and training efforts, with significant focus on an established behavior-based safety program.
Use safety data to organize value-added safety analysis.
Drive safety and environmental capital improvement projects.
Ensure that corporate, sector, customer, and DCMA expectations and requirements are successfully addressed.
Ensure that environmental, health, and safety personnel maintain the required skill level.
Successfully integrate and work as a strategic partner to the other functional managers.
Communicate safety and environmental performance with division leadership.
Lead facility level cross functional committees.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
Prior leadership experience
Ability to effectively lead a diverse group of workers
Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
Must be comfortable working closely with all levels of organization across multiple functions. Practical application of safety and environmental standards and regulations.
Communication skills to transfer knowledge to various audiences, selling concepts and presenting well.
Strong coordination and organizational abilities
Ability to obtain a DoD Clearance, which US citizenship is a requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret Clearance
Background and knowledge in Energetics operations.
Previous DoD, Military or Aerospace facilities experience.
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Proficient in EPA, DOT, OSHA and NFPA regulation
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
