  Job Description: To maintain and repair and generally to keep thephysical school facilities in a condition of good repair and safety sothat full educational use of them may be made at all times.

  Duties and Responsibilities: Work with various materials, equipment,tools and techniques of building or mechanical trades, or the ability toacquire a knowledge within a reasonable time period of the methods andtechniques of a standard trade. Learn and operate the tools andequipment of a standard trade and perform basic skilled tasks associatedwith the field assigned. Operate and maintain in good condition varioustrucks, forklifts, lawn machinery, power tools and equipment asrequired. Assist other maintenance workers in making electrical,carpentry, plumbing, masonry, painting, mechanical and related repairsand installations. Install or repair or assist in the installation orrepair of wiring systems and electrical fixtures and equipment. Repairor install doors, windows, floors, walls and other parts of buildings.Perform drywall, texturing, painting (inside and outside), and concretework. Make repairs to and perform maintenance of roofs. Assist in theinstallation or repair of, and have a general knowledge of, the heatingand cooling systems. Change filters and generally service components ofthese systems. Perform maintenance and installations compatible toskills as required. Clean and care for district tools and equipment andkeep safe and in good repair. Maintain in good condition and store forsafekeeping all property, supplies and materials of the district.Perform all duties and assignments and use materials and operateequipment in a safe and responsible manner, using all safety equipmentor clothing which might be reasonable to ensure the safety of self,fellow employees and students. Maintain athletic fields, parkingfacilities, buildings, grounds and all areas of the district. Performemergency custodial, maintenance and other tasks as directed and needed.Assist in the receiving operation of the school. Assemble, build andrepair school furnishings, and move from location to location asrequired. Assist the head custodian or custodian in building security,in locking, unlocking and repairing doors, windows, window glass,shades, etc. Perform general grounds work as directed. Assist in keepingthe district campuses clean and orderly. Clean and remove debris fromall parking areas. Provide emergency maintenance and repair service toareas, rooms, buildings where incidents have occurred requiring it.Assist in keeping the district vehicles clean, i.e., washed, waxed,vacuumed, etc. Work efficiently and cooperatively with other staffmembers. Work independently and in groups and be a self-starter. Listento, understand and carry out oral and written instructions anddirectives, and respond with oral and written reports as required.Assist in all safety programs, drills and evacuation proceedings asrequired. Requisition and use supplies, materials, and tools as trainedand in an appropriate manner. Assume responsibility for and secure thedistrict assigned keys which are assigned to you for your job use andsafekeeping. Attend classes, in-services and seminars as needed toimprove knowledge and skills and to keep current with the latest inservices, equipment, materials and functions as they pertain to thedistricts needs. Maintain good personal cleanliness and dressappropriately for the position. Practice good public relationstechniques with students, staff, administration and parents,demonstrating a cordial and friendly manner. Practice regular andconsistent attendance, arriving and departing at the designated timesfor your position. Refrain from the use of inappropriate, obscene orfoul language. Assist in keeping the district campuses clean andorderly. Maintain district security by locking all doors and gates forwhich you are responsible, being on campus only during reasonable hours,and reporting to the Director of Maintenance or Superintendent anyproblems with locks, lighting, windows, utilities, etc. Perform otherduties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance or Superintendent. 1.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here arerepresentative of those which must be met by an employee to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, theemployee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimeswalk and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee mayoccasionally push or lift up to fifty (50) pounds, such as boxes,supplies, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job includeclose vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and theability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meetmultiple demands from several people and to interact with the public andother staff. 1.
