Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose of the position
Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Service Manager (Southern). The Leading Hand will manage a team ensuring everyone performing work, or affected by work, knows exactly what is going on before and after it happens and is well informed ahead of time on what work is occurring, and how it will affect them. The Leading Hand is responsible for the quality of work delivered by the team. The Leading Hand will ensure all work completed is done so in accordance with the clients requirements and that all safety requirements are fulfilled.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Manage the performance of your team
Assist with the personnel development of your team
Assist with the development of the work forecast
Allocate resources to work maximising billable utilisation
Undertake planned repairs & refurbishment to required standards, aligned to your qualifications, licenses, and experience.
Undertake unplanned repairs/tasks in a timely manner to required standards.
Conduct maintenance & servicing.
Accurate & timely completion of designated job & service records.
Record machine and service data as required
Maintain and record an accurate timesheet of events
Operation of Safety “tag out/lock out” process.
Risk & hazard assessment as associated with allocated tasks.
Liaise with & assist any specialist contractors or providers engaged by the Business with respect to mechanical works, as appropriate.
Supervise the work of the tradesman’s assistant or any junior maintenance personnel when allocated with these persons.
Ad-hoc duties as assigned by your manager (i.e. Relief work coordinator or area manager)
Examples of equipment you would be working on:
Ship To Shore (STS) Cranes / Quay Cranes (QC)
Automated Stacking Cranes (ASC)
Straddle Carriers (SC) / Shuttle Carriers (SHU)
Assorted Gantry Cranes (RMG, RTG etc)
What you’ll need to succeed
Mandatory Requirement:
Mechanical or Electrical Trade Qualification(s) (e.g. Boilermaker or Fitter & Turner or similar)
Either hold or ability to hold Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
Ability to pass pre-employment medical (incl. D&A screening)
Hold an unrestricted Drivers Licence (car)
Ability to work at height on assorted mobile equipment
High Risk Licence for Forklift and Elevated Work Platform
Desirable:
Heavy Vehicle/Plant Diesel Experience
Hydraulic Experience
Container Terminal Asset Maintenance Experience
Work Experience / Skills:
Heavy Diesel Motors (Caterpillar, Cummins, Mercedes preferred)
Hydraulic Controls
Heavy Vehicle Transmissions
Profibus / CANN bus Communications
Fitting and Machining
Welding/Fabricating
Working at heights
Attributes:

Professional
Ability to deal with conflict
Demonstrated ability to Work at Heights
Demonstrated Heavy Machinery experience.
Ability to work 12 hour shifts and overtime when required
Ability to work 8 hour shifts Monday to Friday
Have a sound knowledge of WH&S policies.
