The Position
Maintenance Repair Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section. It is supervised by the Facility Supervisor III. It is in Las Vegas. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday and the hours are 7 am to 4 pm with a one-hour lunch. This position will be performing journey level, skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, alter and/or maintain buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds maintenance on an "as needed basis" for all State facilities under the jurisdiction of the Division in Southern Nevada, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and within the position's scope of responsibility. This position may require traveling to multiple locations and may require a flexible work schedule for emergency situations (stand-by-status), projects as they arise and call backs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Four years of progressively responsible experience under the supervision of journey level trades persons in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and one year of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs and ordering materials; OR one year of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Special Notes
This position may be subject to call back. Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
