Cleveland-Cliffs Steelton is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the maintenance department at our Harrisburg, PA area operation. As a Mechanical Engineer, you can expect to see your work everywhere; the employees you work with every day help to make the steel that is used in building nations.
In addition to working to support the operating departments, team members may also include safety, quality, and maintenance representatives. You will be able to work independently or with teams to develop improvements and creative solutions while looking for opportunities to develop further in your career. Summary of Responsibilities
Work safely to improve reliability and quality following all required safety policies.
Consult with current technical personnel and corporate research and development (R&D) personnel as required.
Evaluate existing practices used for the melting refining and casting of steel and or the heating, and rolling of blooms and rails, including in-line heat treatment operation head hardening (HH).
Ensure existing practices are adequate to address all items critical to produce the best quality steel at competitive costs.
Develop new control plan and review existing documents to current customer and Cleveland-Cliffs best practices.
Supply best practices recognized or developed to operating departments for continued improvement in reliability.
Investigate and implement continuous improvements projects self-identified or from the cross-functional team’s work.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology or a high school diploma/GED and 5 years of mechanical experience.
Experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
Experience in a union environment.
