As the Mainframe Application and Data Modernization Solution Architect at Ensono you will work with senior executives and leadership to identify and address technology gaps, strategic goals, and business imperatives impacted by infrastructure, application and data architectures and technologies. You will suggest new technologies or new approaches to achieve business goals, develop and drive methodologies to integrate technology innovation with existing governance and enterprise architecture processes, and provide fully costed solution architectures to meet existing client and prospective client requests. You will maintain and update documentation related to organization-wide IT activities and technology roadmaps, and communicate progress and direction through formal presentations, collaborative meetings, and content publishing to mixed audiences helping Ensono win new business and deliver innovation.
What You Will Do:
Work with the Marketing team to identify market opportunities and create a portfolio of Advanced Service offerings that meet those opportunities.
Develop strong client-based value messaging, using, and creating methods that will define Mainframe Modernization, and develop Go-to-Market strategy that include sales enablement for both Hunter and Farmer sales teams.
Manage an advisory and consulting practice with responsibility for resource skill mix, implementation methods, and tools, project delivery, utilization/bench time, financials, quality, and escalation management, advisory and consulting.
Mature a services management practice that encompasses both technical and financial capabilities, gathering and rationalizing feedback from clients, projects, and consultants regarding the implemented products and services, and creating an effective closed-loop feedback process to key stakeholders such as Product, Marketing, and Finance.
The role also involves leading billable projects across a diverse set of teams that drive change and business value at enterprise-scale for Ensono clients, implementing best practices that will drive customer satisfaction and improved project gross margins. This role requires experience in enabling a sales force to sell your set of advanced customer satisfaction services.
Creating tools and methods that will define Mainframe Application and Data Modernization Solution, including discovery questionnaires, implementation work breakdown structures (WBS), estimating models, labor/delivery staff plans, standardized/re-usable deliverables, cost and pricing models, and gross margin thresholds. utilization/bench time, financials, quality, and escalation management.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Driving Mainframe Application and Data Modernization discussions with customers.
Provide technical thought leadership and development of a solutions architecture via innovative, holistic, and pragmatic approaches including Mainframe Application and Data Modernization, Cloud, Modern Connected Mainframe and MFaaS.
Engage with customer leaders and technical stakeholders to help them achieve significant business value by advising and defining their modernization approach.
Lead the Modernization and Migration planning session with the customer.
Lead the migration modernization assessment and strategy discussions and process.
Support business case development via creation of project ROM, TCO and ROI for the customer.
Lead the Proof-of-Concept creation, include a proof of translation or pilot.
Drive the process and SOW generation for the customer.
Build technical assets and reference architectures needed for field and partner sales.
Support the technical relationship between the cloud service provider and or the MFaaS provider with the customers, making recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, optimization, and operational efficiency to accelerate their modernization projects.
Support P&L and related forecasting of pipeline management activities including (but not limited to) attainment of revenue targets and net margins on a quarterly and annual basis.
Oversee the Implementation of Consulting/Professional Services’ methodologies and processes in collaboration with Sales LOB to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and within budget, while maintaining customer satisfaction.
What You Will Need:
10+ years in Managed Services and/or Consulting for Mainframe Application and Data Systems.
10+ years building and managing the transformation programs using various Mainframe Modernization techniques and tools.
5+ years building/managing transformation programs using various Cloud market offerings.
Experience / Certification in IBM Mainframe and Public Cloud.
Excellent people management and influencing skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; including handling challenging Client or Associate Communications in high-pressure situations.
Ability to mentor and guide individuals on both working practices and technical ability.
Ability to develop plans and organize a strategic roadmap long-term.
College degree in Information Technology, Information and Decision Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or commiserate experience. Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a master’s degree; or 5 years with a PhD.
Some of the Technology foundation we would like to see:
Experience in Mainframe 4GL’s and Network or Hierarchical database a plus: Experience with IBM mainframe systems is highly valued in the industry and is a plus for a software solution architect.
Languages: COBOL, Java, C#, PL/I: These programming languages are widely used in software development and are essential for a software solution architect to know.
IBM Mainframe (Z/OS, TSO, VSAM, DB2, CICS, IMS, JCL etc.): Knowledge of IBM mainframe systems is important for a software solution architect, as many enterprise applications run on IBM mainframe systems.
Understanding Mainframe Modernization solutions/tooling: Refactoring, Rehosting, Integration, etc.: Knowledge of mainframe modernization solutions and tooling is essential for a software solution architect to have.
Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tooling: GtiLab, Jenkins, Docker, etc.: These tools are essential for automating the software development process and ensuring that software is delivered quickly and efficiently.
SLDC, Agile, ITILv3, ITSM: These are important skills for a software solution architect to have. They are essential for managing the software development lifecycle, ensuring that software is delivered on time, within budget, and meets the needs of the business.
Unix (RHEL, AIX, Solaris, HP/UX): Knowledge of Unix operating systems is important for a software solution architect, as many enterprise applications run on Unix systems.
Monitoring, Network & Security basics: Knowledge of monitoring, network, and security basics is important for a software solution architect but is not as important as other skills and technologies.
Cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP – certifications are a plus: Certifications in cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and GCP are highly valued in the industry and are a plus for a software solution architect.
LAMP: Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP: LAMP is a popular open-source web platform and is widely used in web development. Knowledge of LAMP is a plus for a software solution architect.
Microsoft (Windows, Office, SharePoint): Knowledge of Microsoft technologies is useful for a software solution architect but is not as important as other skills and technologies.
A full understanding of SaaS, DaaS, PaaS, IaaS and MFaaS: Knowledge of cloud computing models is important for a software solution architect but is not as important as other skills and technologies.
Understanding of Z Cloud modernization stack and Red Hat OpenShift container platform is a plus: Knowledge of Z Cloud modernization stack and Red Hat OpenShift container platform is a plus for a software solution architect but is not as important as other skills and technologies.
Understanding Open-source cloud platforms of Open Stack and Cloud Foundry: Knowledge of open-source cloud platforms is becoming increasingly important in the industry and is a valuable skill for a software solution architect to have.
