CACI has a challenging and exciting opportunity, on the Lunar Gateway Program at NASA Johnson Space Center, for an experienced Software Systems Engineer to perform integrated Verification and Validation (V&V) of the on-board, autonomous Vehicle Systems Manager (VSM) and Autonomous Systems Management Architecture (ASMA).
This position requires a motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. The individual must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise.
What You’ll Get to Do:
Develop and mature Verification and Validation objectives, test cases, and test procedures for distributed autonomous control system requirements.
Support the maturation and certification of software simulations and facilities that will be used in Verification and Validation.
Configure software simulations to create Test Like You Fly (TLYF) scenarios and execute verification events.
Use custom and commercial tools (DOORS, SharePoint, Confluence) to generate and maintain verification artifacts.
Interface with NASA and spacecraft designer engineering teams.
Interface with domestic and international Gateway partners.
Coordinate with vendors and government teams performing lower-level verification for oversight and ability to leverage V&V activities for credit.
Provide creative solutions for constrained schedules and resources in a fast-paced environment.
This work takes place onsite at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to facilitate access to USG facilities.
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines required.
Strong software systems engineering experience.
Background in software development and V&V.
Experience with V&V processes, including specification of verification criteria and development of manual and automated test cases.
Experience with distributed complex systems.
Experience with EITHER:
Autonomous or remotely controlled systems (e.g., used in satellites, autonomous cars, or unmanned aerial vehicles), OR
Avionics and flight software development for human-rated space vehicles, e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.
Evidence of success in highly collaborative projects/environments.
Ability to succeed in fast-paced environments.
Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment.
Possess technical expertise combined with verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with some supervision.
Must be a responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
Must have well developed coordination and organization skills.
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Experience with data driven software systems.
Experience with Agile software development environments and methodologies.
Experience in the full life cycle of human-rated space vehicle flight projects. (e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion).
Experience with DOORS or equivalent software applications.
Experience with custom and commercial software project collaboration tools (SharePoint, Confluence, etc.)
