Function:
This is positions sits within the NAM Logistics Operations team and reports into the Logistics Director.
Diageo North America has a total Logistics spend of $390m split between warehousing ($110m), transportation ($250m) and bulk ($30m). In F24 we have a daring target to deliver $24m of value creation through removing inefficiencies as well as delivering productivity.
The purpose of this role is to lead the long term carrier development strategy.
About the Role:
The majority of Diageo’s transport spend is handled by two external transport management companies; this role will need to work with both of these as well as the internal team to develop the long term carrier development strategy.This strategy will need to focus on five priority areas; service, security, cost, carrier diversity and sustainability.This role will have a high level of external focus and the expectation is the successful candidate will represent Diageo across the external carrier baseThey will work to ensure we have access to the latest innovation in the industry and well as building the right strategic long term partnerships to unlock our goals
Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages:
To be successful in this role you will have:
Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, build relationships, lead projects/processes, develop and implement recommendations, and make sound decisions in support of business needs.Be a self-starter with high levels of motivation to work across matrix organization.Strong influencing skills: Extensive experience explaining the rationale for and garnering support from senior leadership, procurement, manufacturing, customer services and finance leaders to develop and deploy strategies.Interacts and effectively communicates with multiple functions. Requires strong partner and relationship management.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Confident in communicating at senior level.High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint.5 years’ experience in Logistics IndustryTechnical qualification to a bachelor’s degree level
