DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Local Veterans' Employment Representative in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, you will maintain and apply knowledge of workforce development programs, services, policies, regulations, legislation, and procedures. Other duties include implementing and maintaining services to businesses for programs required by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) including Wagner-Peyser as well as veterans, trade, and other legislation, which will help employers meet requirements that can be fulfilled by hiring veterans.
You will also conduct employer outreach to explain the benefits of hiring veterans and coordinate with business organizations, unions, and apprenticeship programs to promote employment and training of veterans. You may also have the opportunity to initiate and collaborate in efforts to hold career fairs and represent PA CareerLink offices at job and career fairs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employmentWork hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:One year of technical or paraprofessional employment services or veterans' employer outreach work, and a bachelor's degree; orOne year of experience interviewing the public to collect and identify customer needs, evaluating eligibility for programs, and researching data to make decisions, and a bachelor's degree; orAn equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:All positions must be filled by a veteran with preference in such appointments given first to qualified service-connected disabled veterans; then, if no such disabled veteran is available, to qualified eligible veterans; and if no such eligible veteran is available, then to qualified eligible persons as defined by Title 38, USC Chap. 41, Section 4101 (3-5).
