You'll be a part of our UK&I 'Lighting Application Specialist' (LiAS) Team, based in our Guildford office. As a team we are responsible for producing lighting solutions (lighting level calculations, visualisations, lighting layout drawings, etc.) for a variety of Internal and External applications.
As an apprentice you will be enrolled with a local College/University and given day-release to complete your apprenticeship. The course will be specific to you, and previous Lighting Design Apprentices have studied Engineering, Project Management, Creative Digital Design and Business Management.
During your 3-year apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to:Produce outdoor lighting calculations for Applications such Urban public spaces, Bridges & Facades, Road/Street/Car Parks and Sports Pitches/stadiumsProduce mains lighting and emergency lighting layouts for Indoor Applications such as Offices, Industrial Premises, Retail Stores & Hospitality spacesReview design briefs to understand the client's requirements and the technical performance requirementsCommunicate with Key Account Managers to provide progress updates, discuss ideas and identify areas for possible innovationAttend site visits and customer meetings where requiredUpdate the project management database with design progress and ensure deadlines are achievedWork closely with fellow Lighting Application Specialists to share best practice and grow capabilities What you'll need Experienced using Microsoft Office packages (Excel, PowerPoint and Word). A knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Photoshop would be beneficial (in-house training to be provided)A fast learner, reliable and able to work to deadlinesPassionate for design and engineeringAn excellent & confident communicator, both verbally and using sketches/visualisationsProactive with your approachInterested in working in a Lighting, Architectural & Technological environmentSatisfactory GCSE (English and Maths included) & A Level attainmentResident in England and able to be based in the Guildford officeBetween the age of 16 plusWhat you'll get in return... Most of our Apprentices are offered a role at Signify having successfully demonstrated the appropriate skills and behaviour for effective performance. Alternatively, there are opportunities for Higher-Level Apprenticeships which can be topped up further to full degree level.
