Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking aLevel II Startup Engineerto join our team to support our Government customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico
The Level II Startup Engineer will be responsible for planning, documenting, and managing the execution of startup testing on a variety of structures, systems, and components including electrical distribution, generators, load centers, motors, variable frequency drives, pumps, ventilation systems, compressors, control systems, instrumentation, hoist, cranes, piping, and fire detection and suppression systems. The position may require back/night shift and weekend work as needed.
Responsibilities:
Prepare testing documentation and manage the execution of startup testing
Plan and supervise inspection, examination, testing activities
Evaluate the validity of testing results and assist in writing procedures
Coordinate with other organizations in the development and performance of startup tests
Communicate progress and issues to project management and other stakeholders
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols
Continuously improve processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective completion of testing activities.
The Level II Startup Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the success of startup testing for various structures, systems and components. They will have the opportunity to continuously improve processes and procedures and contribute to the success of the organization.
Exempt Salary Grade (30-34)
Minimum Qualifications:These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and applications are the means of determination.
Bachelor's degree with two (2) years of experience in testing, commissioning, or related role, or
Associate's degree with six (6) years of experience in testing, commissioning, or related role.
Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Currently qualified or able to qualify as a Level II Startup engineer.
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See

Preferred Qualifications:
WIPP or other DOE experience.Starting salary $67,817 per year *
*Base salary will be dependent upon candidate's background (i.e. education and experience)
