Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more.
This Associate Corporate Counsel will primarily support AWS's Data Center Operations team, which is responsible for the operation, physical security, maintenance, and logistics of AWS data centers globally. The role involves working directly with business and other stakeholder teams to provide day-to-day counseling, contribute to projects, and address vendor issues. As counsel supporting a large international organization, this attorney must be adept at synthesizing legal requirements across many jurisdictions and providing risk-calibrated solutions. The role requires strong drafting skills and an ability to distill complex issues into concise and actionable guidance.
The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Compensation will be based on experience and includes equity compensation.

Basic Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree and admission to at least 1 U.S. state bar
2+ years of legal practice as an attorney
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of legal practice as an attorney referred
Background in web services/cloud computing, telecommunications, or business operations
Experience in a private practice technology group or in-house experience at technology company
Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus, but not required

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
