The legal department at Rapid7 is in charge of contract practices (including drafting, negotiation, and management of existing contractual relationships), privacy and data protection, intellectual property, export law, public company reporting and corporate governance, litigation, international legal issues, employment laws, regulatory matters, and compliance. As Legal Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of legal matters and collaborate with other internal stakeholders such as Finance, People Strategy, Sales and IT, with immediate ownership over real, hands-on projects that help us grow.

In this role, you will:
Partner with Rapid7's People Strategy team to advise the business on all aspects of employment law, including:
Drafting and maintenance of offer letters, understanding the various terms and conditions that make up an offer of employment;Understanding local statutory benefits and review of Company's documentation of relevant policies and procedures to align with local requirements;Advising on performance management and termination procedures;Coordinating/leading internal investigations into policy violations and misconduct;Leading internal employment-related litigation preparation;Advise the business on data privacy matters, including operationalizing privacy programs and maintaining compliance with EU and US and privacy and data protection laws, regulations and frameworks, including GDPR. Responsibilities will include, among other things, responding to requests from data subjects and customers and conducting vendor privacy risk assessments.Monitor regulations, legislative updates, and government oversight actions in multiple jurisdictions relating to employment/privacy issues and provide proactive, strategic advice and solutions to business stakeholders.Coordinate with and manage outside counsel on jurisdiction specific issues as needed.Support the Rapid7 legal team on diverse legal issues affecting the business (e.g., HR, Finance, IT, Professional Services, Sales, Marketing).
The skills you'll bring include:
LL.B. degree from an accredited institution with strong academic credentials.In-house and/or law firm experience in labor/employment and privacy matters in the UK and Europe, and litigation experience is highly preferable.Exceptional communication and organizational skills.Self-starter, highly analytical, with sound decision-making skills;Demonstrated ability to be effective and decisive under pressure.Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to build relationships with empathy, a good listener with an eye for spotting areas of improvement, willingness to propose better ways to operationalize aspects of the department.Excellent time and project management skills: the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced business culture while maintaining high standards for completeness of details and accuracy in results.High-energy, passionate, and intellectually curious individual who is focused on making a sincere impact and expanding skills to meet the evolving needs of the team and the business.CIPP (EU) highly preferable.
