Team Introduction
Our AUNZ legal team is growing together with our company and committed to provide top-end in-house legal services to our internal clients on Australia and New Zealand legal matters. We are looking for a savvy and smart lawyer to join us as Legal Counsel to support our team. This role will focus on commercial and regulatory matters, including but not limited to commercial contracting work and providing advice on compliance of the platform's operations. The role will be based in Sydney.
Responsibilities
- Conducting research on key legal and regulatory issues relevant to TikTok and preparing advice memos in relation to those matters
- Drafting, reviewing and assisting with negotiation of commercial legal contracts in relation to creators and the creative ecosystem (including across the creator, marketing, music and media & entertainment industries) and liaising directly with stakeholders regarding those projects.
- Cross-functional legal reviews of new products or TikTok features
- Responding to ad hoc requests for legal advice from a wide range of teams across APAC.
- Document management and improving internal legal processes and functions including precedent and template management.
- Engaging external legal counsel for advice and project management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent practical experience, with over 6 years PQE in a law firm or in-house legal role
- Meticulous attention to detail, organised, and committed to delivering high-quality work
- Able to self-manage large amounts of work, effectively prioritise and communicate conflicting deadlines, multitask, and work in a dynamic, multicultural and fast-paced work environment
- Proficient with MS Office applications and adept at learning new productivity platforms
- Comfortable taking the initiative
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A collaborative working style, capable of working both cross-functionally with stakeholders across different teams, as well as independently with limited supervision
- Ideal if candidates have one or more of the following;
- 6-8 years experience either in private practice or in-house
- Excellent contracting experience
- Experience in advertising, technology or IP legal work
