Summary:
A Technical Animator is responsible for establishing and maintaining high quality character rigs, animations, and animation state machines for a wide range of characters. This entails working closely with Art, Design, and Engineering to create and iterate on expressive and responsive characters and props for our games.Ouro Interactive is Oculus Studios’ newest 1st Party game studio, and Meta’s first in-house game studio dedicated exclusively to creating lighthouse games for Horizon Worlds. As a Technical Animator for Ouro Interactive, you’ll be at the forefront of shipping VR-best experiences for the ever-expanding Horizon metaverse.

Lead Technical Animator - Ouro Interactive Responsibilities:
Partner closely with and lead the art and design teams in defining and developing animation content.
Develop expressive character rigs that are lightweight and performant for VR platforms.
Responsible for authoring high quality skin weights for a wide range of character types.
Responsible for creating animation state machines that can be driven by engineers and iterated on by designers.
Must be able to quickly solve issues with cross-functional leads.
Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation for our animation pipeline including rigging, tooling, and general animation pipeline.
Be an owner of the animation domain, providing top class, performant, virtual-reality artwork.
Must be able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience rigging and animating in Blender or a desire to learn.
Experience with Unity, Unreal or equivalent game engine with experience using animation state machines.
Expert level experience within the real-time animation domain.
Expert experience crafting rigs, animations, and state machines for a wide variety of characters.
Experience communicating across teams including engineers, artists, and designers.
Sense of timing and a keen eye for details that enhance a user's experience.
Experienced collaborating, iterating, and solving problems with our designers, and engineers.
Experienced working independently and manage one’s time.
Experience shipping products with stringent runtime performance constraints, such as complex mobile, virtual, or mixed reality games.
Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive feedback.

$153,000/year to $212,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
