Position Summary
The Lead Architect serves as a solution expert, at the business unit level developing the most advanced end-to-end solution architecture for highly complex and significant initiatives in partnership with key business and IT stakeholders. Exposes current state architecture and identifies options for future state architecture. Works closely with business and IT stakeholders creating solutions that balance competing interests and concerns. Develops plans for and facilitates the migration from current to selected future state by providing technical leadership to multiple initiatives. Mentors those in less senior positions.

Required Qualifications
Accountability and oversight for driving solutions for key strategic initiatives from cradle to grave for a given domain by providing leadership and oversight to solution engineers and architects who are intimately familiar with the application architectures within their specific domain.
Provide technology leadership, solution oversight, and guidance to ensure that the solution adheres to PSS Architecture Guiding Principles and standards while maximizing reuse of technology assets.
In depth experience in performing Buy vs Build analysis based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis across the available options to provide a final recommendation based on the rationale
Play a key leadership role in architecture design reviews and identify gaps and recommend design changes. Actively lead and participate in the Architecture community to drive modernization opportunities for the advancement of PBM technology while keeping in mind the complexities of our IT landscape
Develop Reference architecture and implementation. Providing leadership, coaching and guidance to App Dev, Technology Services and Solutions and EA to develop/assemble PBM-applicable reference architectures for cloud-native applications to be applied to PBM apps targeted for refactor and optimization.
Lead and drive proofs-of-concept and technology deep-dives specific to partner technologies
Advise and assist App development teams with technical roadblocks such as performance challenges within a solution in key strategic initiatives
10+ years in design/development experience
2+ years of hands-on cloud implementation experience
Preferred Qualifications
Best in class technical subject matter expertise and domain knowledge
SME level understanding of cloud design and architecture for one or more public cloud provider (Azure, AWS, GCP) to deliver large-scale distributed solutions across the full enterprise stack
SME level technical skills in the following areas: application and integration architecture, security and automation along with a working knowledge of IT operations
SME level understanding of APIs and microservices-based architecture
Experience working with technologies that work as glue between modern apps and legacy infrastructure leveraging streaming platforms like Apache Kafka
Experience in enterprise development tools and methodologies (XP, Agile) including DevSecOps and DataOps
Hands-on technologists with coding skills and proficient in modern technology stacks (Cloud, DevOps, Kafka etc.)
Understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database technologies
Demonstrable hands-on experience is a must
Facilitates adoption of cloud-native/cloud-first architectures.
Experience integrating with legacy mainframe/mid-range AS400 applications including developing roadmaps for modernization of the applications
Education
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field required
Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$124,372.50 - $247,200.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
